I am so sorry historyfans...

we mobile game now

Looks like it's all over, fantasybums. We've won. Any last words?

1st for CA a SHIT

a SHIT!!!

*invades your island*

Some things of note from the FAQ for those too lazy to read through it
>It starts in 878 AD, and like other Total War games it’s over once you win! There is no set end-date, though the content in the game covers up to around 1066.
>We’ll be confirming all ten of the playable factions over the coming months but for now we can tell you that you’ll be able to play as Anglo-Saxons, Viking settlers and certain Gaelic clans.
>The game will offer a super-detailed campaign map, with more regional distinction. You can also enjoy new, unique faction and culture mechanics with deep narratives and character development, and we’ve worked hard to introduce all sorts of tweaks to various campaign systems to enable the player to make more powerful and impactful choices. These are things we’ve already announced, though more key features will be announced soon!
>It will be based off the Total War: ATTILA codebase, though not without some changes so we can make the game run as smoothly as possible.
>Springtime 2018 is when you’re likely to see gameplay.

>watch the trailer
>Viking magic turns a snake into a full-size longship filled with armed men
Wizards confirmed! Fantasy wins again!

How would you guys feel if CA did Total War: Alexander?
Factions would be
>Alexander/Philip II's Macedonia
>Greece
>Persia
>Egypt
>Mauria, India
Later we could get Ethiopia/Nubians, Italians, Arabians, and Afghans.
The map would basically be the eastern third of the R2 map. Here is the kicker. India. We include all of India and central Asia. And maybe, if you really wanted to push it... China.
You could lead Alexander to greater heights than even he achieved, lead the Pharaoh's in a pre-Ptolemaic Egypt, etc.

nth for laugh at the Irish

I RULE

user....

Will it have Picts?

No, they said only Gaels.

I'm more than pleased honestly, can't wait to play as the Uí Briúin and Uí Néill and maybe some Dál Riata

Why would you post a blank image?

Oh boy, only trailer images on the steam page...
I can't wait to be drip fed with artwork and screenshots for the next 6 months with stupid teaser images that are published a day before a trailer.
With Attila we got immidiately gameplay footage. I really hate how CA is marketing since Warhammer

Will I need Rome 2 to play this new Thrones of Bretonnia DLC?

Instead of making Persia one faction, how about dividing it to satrapies for unit roster variety? You could play as satrapy of Pontus, Armenia, or Bactria.

And also includ European barbarian factions too.

youtube.com/watch?v=RbrbDa9EBR0

How can history shitheads compete?

Dál Riata is NOT Irish.

CA must pay.

They'll probably do fantasy-esque stuff like making vikangz mostly unarmoured beserkers and welsh full of longbowmen.

>It starts in 878 AD, and like other Total War games it’s over once you win! There is no set end-date, though the content in the game covers up to around 1066.
Norman invasion ala Mongols/Chaos confirmed
>We’ll be confirming all ten of the playable factions over the coming months but for now we can tell you that you’ll be able to play as Anglo-Saxons, Viking settlers and certain Gaelic clans.
Read: three or four actual factions reskinned a few times
>It will be based off the Total War: ATTILA codebase, though not without some changes so we can make the game run as smoothly as possible.
Read: downgraded because that's the only way CA knows how to optimize
>Details on the price will be confirmed by retailers a little closer to release.
60 bucks.
>Springtime 2018 is when you’re likely to see gameplay.
Late 2018 release.
I'll probably still play it.

t. Duncan MacLeod

Gaelic = Irish, sc*t boy, you can't refute that

Did much happen throughout yurop from 826 - 1066 AD?

i wanna know how much we're missing out on by focusing only on Britain

Why? Weren't the Pictish fully assimilated by the date this starts? You'll probably get Cumbrial, but Kenneth MacAlpin is already dead by the time this game starts.

>british still butthurt about what they did to Ireland

What is wrong with Brits and Turks?

Hey Aletta from CA Hungary here, we're planning to introduce Heroic Warriors and Warrioresses, as well as special abilities.

>no gameplay
K

t. Hamish MacDonald

>Tomb Kings still not announced

Don't you dare play mine historic ancestor kingdom you filthy fucking potato farmers.

ignoring the fact the setting is tired and cliche as fuck the gameplay is going to be abysmal

how do you make 10 factions interesting when all of them are going to be nothing but different tiers of heavy infantry?

as much as we may hate horsefuckers you need variety in your factions to have a balanced and interesting total war game

>Click on Phoenix Guard
>No sound
WTF CA?!

...Padraig typed, his keyboard stained with tears shed for the thousands who did not die in his phony famine.

They must PAY

Who is who here?

>another day of "haha fantasy btfo" and "take that history fantasy 4 life" This general is really becoming an ocean of shit.

>...

oh boi
>netflix vikings fags on the loose
>muh blood eagle
>britbongers, muh warriors of christ and cuckoldry,
>legendary big beard irish warrior

what time to be alive

but epic internet wars dude xD

not so confident now, eh Gaelboi?

me on the left

>HORNED HELMS
CA can't be serious! That's worse than Rome 1's Egypt faction.

I like infantry battles though.
We'll likely see
- One handed axe and shield
- Two handed axes
- Sword and shield
- Spear
- Spear and shield
- Dual Axe
As well as
- Short range throwing missiles
- Archers

HOL UP

>ten new playable factions in saga
>you’ll be able to play as Anglo-Saxons, Viking settlers and certain Gaelic clans.

So

>Wessex
>Uí Néill or some other Ulster clan
>Uí Briúin without a doubt starting in Thomond
>Dál Riata
>Wessex
>Northumbria, Mercia, East Anglia maybe if they're doing it before the GHA invades and reduces Anglo-Saxons to Wessex
>Vikang factions split among Ragnarr's sons, or GHA as a horde or some shit who knows
what else could it be

Why are
>THRONES OF
so differently written. Will all Saga titles be called THRONES OF

>one of my favorite eras is early middle ages
>didn't know any games for that era but also didn't search for any
>rtw bi was like scratching close to the itch to dull it
>ck2 gets old gods and later charlemagne
>atilla age of charlemagne later
>now this

I feel out of touch with everyone basically snoozing at this game but I'm really hyped for this game

What did CA mean by this ?

R1 is literally a tablet game

>I feel out of touch with everyone basically snoozing at this game but I'm really hyped for this game
>one of my favorite eras is early middle ages

Your problem is that you have shit taste.

>how do you make 10 factions interesting when all of them are going to be nothing but different tiers of heavy infantry?
With a little artistic license while still staying broadly accurate to history they could do it like so

Ireland will be focused on skirmishers
Welsh will be focused on archers
Scotland will be focused on pikes
Vikings will be focused on light infantry
Anglo-Saxons will be focused on heavy infantry

Dawi from another hold...?

Fantasy!

That is almost exactly Le Mobile Game Shouting Man face

I kinda like it, but I'm keeping my hype in check until we see gameplay

>we want the GOT audience
It’s obvious

irish are human sized dwarfs

>GOT
There is literally a Vikings show.

They want the Vikings and Last Kingdom audiences. One of the devs literally said the setting had been "featured in recent media"

>those 'o's

i love how they failed to make the clash royale one look angry , it look more like he just got a spear trought his ass

Armour: WRONG
Weapons: QUESTIONABLE
>FIRE!
Language: WRONG

Is this the least historical CA game ever?

I’ve already played a shit ton of similar campaigns in Charlemagne and age of Vikings but hopefully they’ll add enough new stuff to make it interesting

Fantasy is here to stay, mad historyboi

Vikangz maybe: Hálvdan svarte, Sigurd and Ivar the boneless

Does anyone have a relative working at CA here? What's the inside scoop?

could someone put an angry wojak face on the Irishman on the left and a smug pepe on the Viking on the right

obviously GoT invented thrones.

No! We killed you all. Even the younglings!

Irish Chad King is a badass who swipes off your virgin Germanic arrow from his harp shield

How can Saxons and Vikangs even compete against the Master Race that is the Gael?

THRONES OF GAMES

Gael? More like Gay-all.

>Brits can't even afford MSPaint

The age of Horsefuckers and Fantasyshitters is OVER! Now is the time for AXEMANII!!!

The lead designer for R2 and several other TWs literally works on mobile games these days.

woop

youtube.com/watch?v=M8WFl4Mo1yM

By eating a diet more varied than potatoes?

Potatoes weren't invented yet idiot.

>though the content in the game covers up to around 1066.
>content in the game covers up to around 1066.
>1066

Impossible, how did the Irish not starve to death?

>scotts
>pikes

Wouldn't they just be a skirmisher faction like the Irish at this time?

Can’t wait to hack and slash and set shit on fire

>implying CA won't add ahistorical amounts of chariots and cavalry

>Miniclip

Wasn't that a fucking Flash game website back in the day?

REEEEEEE IRISH SHIELDS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE RECTANGULAR

FUCKING

DROOOOOOOOOOOPPED

>Sega is suppose to be a bunch of events happening in a short amount of time
>but the campaign can go to 1066 for some reason

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY

FOR MY VIKANGZ WHO BE THINKIN' WE SOFT

WE DON'T PLAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

WE GONNA RAID UNTIL THE WHEELS FALL OFF

and i though chinks arr rook same

this game will just be axemanii the game

>Antiquity

They COULD do it by changing up how different types of units control and interact so that they are significantly changed from the very basic archetypes of things like "Spear Infantry, Sword Infantry, Light Cavalry, Heavy Cavalry, etc." that Total War has been thus far. But that requires a lot of design reworks and innovation so in reality it'll probably just be a boring game of heavy infantry clashes

Yeah you're right but CA have always taken these sorts of creative liberties. I think the Welsh would probably still be skirmishers at this point too but since they're generally historically most famous for being archers I think CA will probably skew them in that direction.

That's from roman times. Irish shields from 500's onwards were circular.

WE LOST FANTASYBROS

GOOOOODS I WAS STRONG THEN

Makes sense, goes up and past Brian Ború to the Normans who end an age on the British isles by their invasion, a good stopping point
plus long time periods make family trees more dynamic and fun to mess with like in Rome 1

>reach 1066
>12 fleets of doomstack normans appear near dover
