9 was my first strategy/tactics game, which is arguably easier than 7, and it took me multiple playthrough restarts to finish it, so don't feel bad. A good idea is to evaluate your characters' stats. Some are naturally better than others, getting an understanding of that makes it a whole lot more manageable.
