What happened here during the Second World War?

I feel like the Balkan theatre in general is often overlooked.

An absolute shitload of partisans.

Also, the Croats taking advantage of the Final Solution to help put an end to the Serb problem.

Unfortunately, they didn't get enough of them.

Dr. Pavelic, I'm AVNOJ.

bump

Yugoslavia started out as a pro-German monarchy. Then the army, maybe with British instigation/aid I don't remember, launched a coup. Germany and the Axis come knocking in and take over Yugoslavia. After that it was a mess of partisans and fascists which was all very bloody.

Literally slavs being slavs

Slav deaths are overlooked because nobody expects anything better.

A young child punches another young child, just boys being boys. A grown man with a job punching another grown man with a job, then something wrong is going on.

t. Jew

>Be 18
>Be inna wehrmacht
>Arrive in Yugoslavia
>Es ist nicht mir begins playing

>tfw maternal grandfather joined the partisans at the age of 17 and paternal grandfather joined the party before the war after hearing about muh communism during his time in the royal Yugoslav army and did all kinds of agitation for the party before and during the war

SMRT FASIZMU NARODU SLOBODU

Croats acting like the crazed subhumans they are, Based Tito fucked them up

#notallcroats

Tito was a Croat you shitskin.

Why did SlavMoot kill the poor Serb :(

A civil war inside a world war. Adding on to ; at any given moment, there were more than just two sides fighting in the conflict. The chetniks started out fighting against the Axis but came into conflict with the partisans because of ideological opposition so for some time there were three sides until the chetniks joined the Axis. In Slovenia, the remnants of the Slovene chetniks (also known as the blue guard because of the monarchist ideals) joined together with the remnants of the village guards (also known as the anti-communist militias - groups of people joined together at first to defend their villages from looting partisans but organised and armed by Italians to work as some sort of auxiliary units) into the homeguard. Even inside this organisation, there were conflicts as different factions fought for power. There were the offshoots of the conservative organisations, the more clerical groups (the most brutal being the Legion of death that was led by actual priests) and the monarchist chetniks. As the only shared ideal was anti-communism, they descended into infighting on several occasions. Another anti-communist organisation was the Black hand (not related to the Serbian organisation that assassinated Franz Ferdinand), a group that worked as paid assassins for anyone who had money. It is said they were even paid by nazi officials (usually from the gestapo) to kill off other nazi officials that stood in way of people's promotions. Their usual targets were high-ranking partisans and partisan activists, though.

Even among the partisans, there was infighting as the communists took more and more power. The vast majority of partisans were not communists (there were Christian socialists, liberals and other patriots and anti-fascists) but by 1943, the communist party had taken complete control of the organisation and turned it into a communist army.

>What happened here during the Second World War?

Genocide and ethnic purging.
The systematic killing of half the serbian male population.
Setting up for the next century or relative poverty in the region.

I hate people like you.

nationalists collaborating with an invading force that wanted to wipe them out, communists defending their country and managing to liberate themselves with little outside help

>with little outside help

Me on the left.

>nazi bulgaria conquers serbia
>serbia establishes itself as a nazi state now
>bulgaria turns communist and conquers serbia again

Fucking backstabbers.

ĐšOCOBO

>Moot on the left

I have nothing against any particular group of people.

I'm just saying what everyone (sub)consciously thinks, including yourself and probably most slavs.

Nice argument

>The systematic killing of half the serbian male population.
Stop spreading lies, please. Thank you.

>Bulgaria allies itself with Germany
>steamroll thru Serbia like many times before that
>Bulgaria exits the war, retreats its army
>communists take over
>Bulgaria again steamrolls thru Serbia like many many times before

You've got nationalists, monarchists and communist partisans fighting against the nazis and each other
It's a clusterfuck

t.croat

>backstabbers

>what is the war of 1885

>lets attack Bulgaria without declaring war while most of its army is in the east on the Turkish border

Serbia did it first, and much worse. Fucking Serbs always have to cry victim.

Where is the Svetovid guy? Did he get banned?

More like
>Bulgaria alligns with Germany
>Get free lands from Romania Greece and Yug
>Gets couped by Stalin
>Loses it all except for some shitty land in Romania

The Ustashe were fucking nuts. Even the Nazis were shocked by their up-close-and-personal slaughter.

There was a Balkan theatre?

Do i have to go over this again?
The Serbian kang told the soldiers they were going to help Bulgaria.
One of the reasons why Serbs gave Bulgarians their medical supplies and why the Serbian army gave up and almost mutinied.
The prospect of going to war with Bulgaria was so unpopular the king lead the army himself, choosing not to commission any high ranking military commanders, and mobilizing only class 1 recruits.
Meanwhile you just lock yourself in the echo chamber of what your government planned course taught you in highschool.

>Meanwhile you just lock yourself in the echo chamber of what your government planned course taught you in highschool.

Considering im from the most anti-Bulgarian country on earth thats not true. Regardless of the reason it was still backstabbing, you can't call Bulgarians backstabbers because they attacked you after three wars and holding their territory, but when Serbia attacks Bulgaria out of the blue FIRST oh well thats not the same because the soldeirs didn't know, its the same. And if anyone was surprised that Bulgaria would fight Serbia after Serbia didn't want to spare an inch for their neutrality they were delusional.

/thread

>we didn't vote to backstab you
>the backstab was unpopular with the people
>everyone was sorry for backstabbing you

Okay. Still backstabbed.

Over 700,000,000,000 serbs, jews and gypsies were disappeared by the Ustase and thrown into the Neretva river without a trace, never forget.

>While he spoke, I gazed at a wicker basket on the Poglavnik's desk (Poglavnik was Ante Pavelic's title). The lid was raised and the basket seemed to be filled with mussels, or shelled oysters -- as they are occasionally displayed in the windows of Fortnum and Mason in Piccadilly in London. Casertano looked at me and winked, "Would you like a nice oyster stew-!

>"Are they Dalmatian oysters?" I asked the Poglavnik.

>Ante Pavelic removed the lid from the basket and revealed the mussels, that slimy and jelly-like mass, and he said smiling, with that tired good-natured smile of his, "It is a present from my loyal ustashis. Forty pounds of human eyes.
