Am I too dumb to play a paladin healer? I spam flash of light until the tank gets sick of it and have holy shock on cool down. I also keep the spell that heals him after 5sec. And yet I struggle to maintain mana and keep the tank above 50%. Level 59, fresh bc dungeons.

Put it on the tank if you're worried about mana once it has the trait that refunds cost on who you cast it on. Put it on yourself otherwise, you can add Light of the Martyr to your castings while you get yourself healed up with the bounce heal.
You're probably not too stupid to play holy paladin. It's brain dead easy. It has a pretty poor skill progression though with some awkward ranges since they decided your only big heal would be on your artifact weapon and that you'd be missing any real DotS or AoEs. More gear reliant than other healers too, which could be a problem you're facing.

Oh, I think I see your problem. Every time you enter a new expansion range there's an awkward stat bump since your heirloom doesn't enter the next range at the same time you unlock your first dungeons.
It's not really a huge amount, but it's enough to wipe if your tank doesn't notice it either. It's much worse for healers than anyone else since it can just become impossible to do your role until you get a few drops or levels. You're probably not screwing up at all, don't worry.

HP is just another resource to spend. As long as you have one or more, you're good.

That's exactly what why the formed. The first war was the Orcish Horde vs Stormwind, ending with the Orcs destroying the Human city and the refugees fleeing north. The Second War started after the refugees warned the Humans of Lordaeron, High Elves, Dwarves and Gnomes of about Horde, after which they formed the Alliance.
That's the worst it got when I accidentally was in melee range.
