it's extremely stupid just like the pre-rebellion sins pirates. more powerful than an actual empire. they decide the game not how well you play. I saw sophons boxed in by three pirates just being pasted without a chance.

I set minor civs to easy after I got annoyed at their fleet spam. I see no reason not to change when pirates came out, and it's only been for the better

The hero who won't let the Academy destroy the galaxy for muh Lost reparations.
Pathfinders are supposed to be the first and the best of the Academy heroes. I guess the idea Amplitude was aiming for was a big galactic war of Defenders vs. Rejuvenators where all the heroes and major factions would take sides. But endgame content is still kind of unpolished so far.

What are the new Academy quest rewards anyways? For each side. The final quest itself still triggers too late in comparison to victory conditions so I haven't gotten around to trying it out yet.

Whats the view here on beyond earth and the galciv games? on other places i heard lacklaster things.

Starsector 0.9: the 4X update

I did rejuvenator and was the top player in both quests and it gave me a unique building, unique module (top tier purple armor), and permanent +20% FIDSI

Better. I got a building that increases every planet by 1 fids per pop, small by an extra 2 and tiny by an extra 3 for 10 hyperium. Next stage looks like it's got even more goodies, but I've never been able to reach it before winning the game another way.

Gal Civ 2 is real neat, used to be my favorite 4x. Last time I played Gal Civ 3 was just a graphical upgrade with some, but miniscular changes, might have changed more with updates now.

Heretic's quest new rewards

The consensus for the Heretic's quest was that whatever happened to Isyander's insane endeavor, it felt a little underwhelming whether he succeeded or not. We decided to rework the quest's rewards, introducing a new "podium" of rewards for players' involvement, as well as a more visual reminders of the dramatic events taking place in the galaxy. Finally, the losing side will no longer be able to recruit heroes once the quest complete!
I've played three games to turn 100-150 this weekend but haven't beaten the quest yet, sorry. I just really enjoy the early game explore and expansion parts.

I didnt play BE but if i recall it was basically too close to Civ V but with no expansion improvements.
