I don't really have any stake in this conversation but I believe the key thing is that Molag Bal is the only one who can create vampires, but there are plenty of instances of other Princes claiming the souls of vampires for themselves. So by default you serve Bal, but you have options if you are willing to seek them. If I am understanding this correctly, Sanguine made this character a vampire themselves, which I am not sure is possible.

Really the only thing in common is the hair and facial structure, and that's due to them being nords.

Molag Bal is the creator of the first vampires, but Vile, Sanguine and others have learned to create them too after a while. Vaermina is also known not to only be able to create vampires, but she also has the cure to vampirism.

I'm currently doing a Dunmer thief/skooma dealer/slum lord/punchwizard.

Start off as a buff spellsneak who likes to hit things with his hands, work up from thieving to dealing, then start buying properties to launder money.

Illusion helps manage crowds when things get rowdy and conjuration is awesome if you want to try your hand at a necromancy playthrough. Alteration is the bees knees, and there's some pretty neat mods that add Restoration spells that are offensive for that Paladin playthrough.

Mihails Imp mod is pretty fun. The Imps even use human skeletons so you can use poses on them. Only down side is, like most of his mods, they're really low-res: nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/87928/?
