How did people get sick of wars so fast?

how did people get sick of wars so fast?
it seemed like they happened every other week but sometime after world war 2 people just said
>eh i'd rather not fight, thanks

how did this happen in such an insanely short time?

well what is it good for?

Atomic weaponry and increased economic interdendence.

Globalism and nukes have made conventional war obsolete.

Now proxy wars and cyber warfare is the name of the game.

just because it isn't good doesn't mean people don't do it

war can boost an economy speed up production of technology and unify a people

The threat of nuclear Armageddon emerged ya dunce.

Mass communication. Conflicting parties can work out their differences peacefully, nations are more dependent on one another because of global trade, pacifist ideals are more widespread because of mass media, etc. Nukes play a part too but I think their impact is overstated.

Wars are fought by proxy by hired security forces

>how did this happen in such an insanely short time?

We learned how to rip apart matter itself, and employed the principle in war.

Also globalism.

>spelling his name wrong

I wish people wouldn't become soft over peace years, we become so comfortable we forget what true hardship looks like. Still, war is such a hell that I certainly wish it'd never have existed.

War used to be something which was intense, metaphysical and idealistic. Direct hand to hand combat was considered honorable, and was always a spiritual process of appeasing your personal God (be it ancient Pagan Gods, or the Christian God).

When the West secularized and economic Materialism became the primary concern, people weren't compelled to fight for any kind of values except for their nation state (which is ultimately a material construct).

So millions of young men, with no divine compelling justification to fight for glory or honor, who'd rather stay home and continue living a Bourgeoisie lifestyle, went to get shot by a stray bullet and die bleeding out in the mud.

The Great War ultimately did nothing and achieved nothing except lots of pain. Great War 2 was just a continuation of the first.

So now people would rather not fight and live comfy luxurious lifestyles. Secular Liberalism demasculized the West. War is now something we regret.

Ironically enough, it's the Communists, utter Materialists, who actually glorify and celebrate WW2 as a victory for their Collective ideals. Here in the West, we don't celebrate our victory, rather we just feel sorry about ourselves because war is bad guyz :(.

> Still we provoke war everywhere in the world so we can exploit resources to fuel capitalism

Globalism. War today fucks over everyone. In the middle ages one fief attacking another had no impact on anyone else. This gradually changed. The fact one can push a button and glass a small country across the globe also helps.

Today if you attack Saudi Arabia it fucks over the oil supply for Spain and suddenly Sweden has no oranges anymore.

Absolutely nothing !

Because playing politics gets you what you want while throwing autistic shitfits doesn't.

>In the middle ages one fief attacking another had no impact on anyone else
prolly more like they didn't realize it did

>the only reason people went to war was because of God(s), and now they stopped doing that, because of lack of faith in them.
Nigga, you serious?
No, the reason it's so villified is because the past 150 years have turned it into an industrial, long-range, uber-stressful meat grinder where you can get killed by some lucky bullet fired by a starving goat-herder half a mile away, regardless of your skill.
Also, the ton of urban warfare have made it much more up-front and traumatic.

you do not understand the power of opportunity cost

Adding onto that, modern warfare is more expensive than you could possibly imagine

war is much more destructive not some battle that takes place far away with lots of ex-prisoner conscripts, democracy and the media allows people to see what happens

People originally went to war because they thought it was an inherent good and honorable (dying for their God or their divinely anointed leader).

And yes, everything else you said I agree with.

Well Muslims still go on jihad n shit

They had the same feeling after ww1.
Only took em half a century to start a new one.

And they pretty much suck at it. Jihads dont work very well in modern war.

War at its most fundamental element is two or more Chads and their posses getting drunk and angry at each other over shit the other guy has and fighting it out for ownership of said shit.

Lots of factors. I'd say there are two main ones:

1. With increase in technology, the wars got insanely more destructive, so people got more hesitant to declare them
2. With increase in education, people realized that wars are dumb
