If you're getting IAD you're getting IAD, it's the same amount of speed.
But it's true that it's easier to do on pad/hitbox/keyboard. Good games use button dashing anyways

You don't have to keep it in the center of the direction you want.

Just looking at some tests and stats of some of the levers. Seimitsu has smaller, if not same throw, plus seimitsu has a smaller gate distance so I figure that might be good to experiment with.

Melty movement feels so weird though. The way characters gather their momentum at the start of the dash is just awkward.
