Only real barrier to entry for fighting games is none of them really teach you how to play the game, you just need to go online and get annihilated over and over again. Most people don't find this fun, especially with how bad online for fighting games can be.

I'm not normally a graphics whore, but Sirlin's game looks disgusting. If he was going for something low budget it should have been way more stylized. That alone will turn many people away, they'll take one look at the screenshots and gameplay videos and never be interested.

I don't have it yet myself, but, this was a determining factor in whether I'll ever get it. Glad to hear it's still played. Most of my experience is with '98, namely Supercade and UM PS2.
