They are not needed for any ui or overlay textures. If they are included in ui or overlay textures they can cause some headaches. On top of making the texture size bigger than it really needs to be.

You're going to have to choose between 1.4 and 1.4.1. The major difference is 1.4 has an easier economy, and the spawns are a bit crazier.

Problem is, I'm not really sure where all the textures are mentioned to modify them. Started out thinking "well I'll just replace the image with a similar one", which didn't work. Anyway, right now I know I've got to change the dds, link it in the gun's ltx (in case I split it), and modify the scopes_16 xml. Would've had to do the same for the kar98 and kar43, but can't touch either since the scope on the kar98 is off centered and I'd need to fix the model, which was easy enough but exporting it back to ogf, and basically adding the "fixed" version back in went way over my head, while the kar43's scope is literally broken, model wise. Actually spent a whole day staring at blender and reading tutorials hoping to at least fix it, and worry about exporting it later, but it turns out that flew over my head just as well. Really, I ain't a modder or anything, but these four guns managed to trigger my autism enough to at least try and do something about it.

I think you are confused.
Find a scope texture that is gnomus.
Look the name up in scopes_16.xml
Copy and paste all that info for that scope then change the texture name in your copied info.

If you still havent figured it out by tomorrow ill just do it for you.

I can do that too probably later on in the day. Actually real easy if you have the modeling tools, plugins and the sdk setup.

Gahaha, success! Finally cracked it. Well the first issue anyway, and why a similar 1024x1024 wouldn't load properly. Turns out in scope mode, the sides of the screen get automatically dimmed, and a square scope gets placed in the middle. So it wasn't like my square one wasn't getting stretched, but more like none were, and I was dimming the transparent area too much and it showed. Now that I got the transparency just right, there's nothing to it anymore. Placed the sun where the edges met with the actual scope model and therefore, transparency. Seems like 60% on a black layer was the magic number. Still got some touch ups to do, but that will have to wait for tomorrow. Almost 6 in the morning here.

As for the gnomus scopes, if I understand right, I could use one of those to insert one of the values there as a new one in scopes_16 and redirect the SVT to it. If that still isn't right, I'll go through it again tomorrow but that does sound doable right now.
Finally, regarding the actual models, the kar98 is really a super easy fix, just center the damn scope onto the gun. Considering I make these scopes by demo_recording out and taking a screen of the actual gun to shoop the scope texture on, I couldn't since the scope was off center. The kar43 though was a pain in the ass. Will do a quick snap from blender in the next post just for the hell of it. In any case, thanks for all the help so far. Might be quite a bit hard headed, but I'll stick with it until I finally get it.

It's ugly, but at least it perfectly matches the equally ugly model of the gun more than the stock gnomus scopes do. Good job, user.

Yeah, that was the point. Even the replaced one looked better and had more detail on it, but it made no sense with that damn gun. In any case, this is the main problem with the k43. Basically the faces I slapped some red on were supposed to connect on the bottom or middle somewhere but are connected on top of the rim. And couldn't for the life of me connect them on a lower point in front without breaking something in the back. There's also some normals to flip on the front of the rim itself, but those even I could do. Anyway, I'm fucking done for the night. Will finish this up and start on the SVT tomorrow. Thanks for all the help again.

Downgrading is as simple as dragging and dropping the downgrade folder that comes with it. Just follow the installation instructions, it's very easy.

AMK AE 1.4.1 already covers all of that shit. You don't need to throw low quality mods on top of it.

It covers basically everything. The sound is great, the graphics are great, the gameplay is great. Just play it. There's a tweak pack on the repo that can tune the combat to be a little more realistic among other things, but really the combat is fine out of the box and you don't need that unless you want it to feel more like ARMA. Basically, if your only frame of reference is vanilla, or vanilla with shitty mods, I think you'll have a blast.

Besides the obvious aim for the head, use cover and Q & E to peek around corners. You can let enemies come to you (when hiding) at times but they can also flank you, so be mindful of your surroundings.

what the other guy said, identify the best piece of cover and run for that shit asap, and against most mutants look for something to jump on top of like a rock or crate, they cant reach you up there

In Last Day 1.1, what was Sakharov's message about a timer counting down? The message glitched out or something, because it only appeared for two seconds. I can't disable the miracle machine since the button literally does nothing, nor can I leave X-16 because some unexplained force drains my health even though I have the completed (not prototype) psi-helmet. Should I just reload to a past save and get a SEVA before going down there?

It's been a long time since I've been there. The only thing I remember about the timer is that you have a certain amount of time to disable it when you get close to it because the psy levels are too high. You can reset the timer by moving away. Also, if I remember correctly there is a lever you need to pull on every level to disable the miracle machine (its shaped like a big staircase). So there is like 3-4 levers. When you complete that the door opens where you will meet the controller.

I've only found a few, but the theme seems to be higher radiation = more profit.
What's most important is that you sell them to the ecologists though, they pay far, far more than stalkers and other traders, and a shitter artifact sold to the ecologists is worth more than a rare one sold to a stalker. I generally build up a stash of mutant parts and junk artifacts, and when I have a decent amount I make the trip to Yantar and sell it in bulk.

That's what I've been doing, too. Although, Pseudogiant and Chimera parts sell surprisingly low, especially the Chimera horns. If you haven't already, I'd suggest equipping Crystal with a Steel Plate if you only have a suit that has two slots.

I have a Goldfish, it's a bit heavier than steel plate (total weight 8k, +5kg carry weight, so 3 kg effective) but gives more than twice the armor in addition to good acid/fire resistance and some minimal toxic resistance. In the other slot I have a magic camelbak that isn't translated, but gives +75% stamina recovery, some carrying capacity, some resistances, -2 mSv / sec.

Also, it seems the trend with those "useless" artifacts is that the heavier they are, the less they're worth per kg. They'll always be more valuable than the lighter ones, but 10kg light artifacts are worth more than 10kg heavy ones.

I just upgraded my Mercenary Scientific Suit to have 4 slots, and I don't have a good item for the 4th slot yet so it's some old kevlar for now. I desperately need more carrying capacity so I'll probably get a magic slav carrying rig once I save up the money for it.
Battery for excellent Psi and Electricity resistance (but reduces all armor by roughly a Kevlar sheet)
Goldfish for excellent all armor types and good fire resistance

OTs-33 "Pernach" is my main anti-mutant weapon and it's accurate and effective enough that I use it against stalkers with poorer equipment as well. Most of my money goes into suboptimal pistols, and I have a fully automatic Glock 19 as well, but I don't like it as much despite it being 9x19 instead of 9x18. Something with the fire-rate and reload time and the way it recoils that throws me off. Occasionally I use a FNX 45 "Tactical" if I need a pistol with a bigger punch and better range, and this latest excursion I picked up a Duty Colt 1911 that looks promising as well despite it's poor magazine size.
So yeah, I don't actually have a proper main weapon yet, I have a G36 stashed but the sights are fucking useless and I'd prefer one of the variant versions anyways, and a Duty-flavored AEK-971 that feels and sounds fantastic for an AK, but I can't afford the repairs for it yet, so I still just use whatever passable rifle I find laying around and I just discard it and grab another one from nearby when I start running low on ammo.

Indeed, that's a very solid loadout. I've been trying to find somebody who sells that suit, but every single trader still sells low to mid tier suits regardless of my rank.Kind of at a loss. I unfortunately haven't had much luck in finding a Goldfish, or Battery, though the Crystal will do for now. Not much wiggle room in terms of swapping it out with say, a Kevlar, since the NBC's thermal resistance is next to zero. Plus, I'd prefer to have well-rounded armor.

Currently, I'm debating which shotgun to pick up. I need something that can actually kill Chimeras and Giants effectively, so if you have any recommendations, I'd appreciate it. Might go for a Protecta, though the reload time is horrendous, forcing you to be cautious with your shots if multiple Snorks are present.

At first, I thought I'd enjoy the Val, but the 1P29 Tulip scope kills it for me. I'm searching high and low for an SVD with no luck. I'll just use the SIG I picked up from the Merc base raid until an SVD pops up, but who knows how long that can take. Also, I believe the ammo for the SVD and SIG are cheaper and lighter than the Val's ammo.

I know the mod has Saiga-12, because I've seen quests asking for one. I'm guessing that's a rare/lategame shotgun as it typically is.
MP 153 looks like it'd beat Protecta, it looks like a regular pump-action tube-loaded one, but it's actually a semi-automatic so the fire-rate is great and the reload time is on par with the pump-action ones. They're uncommon but not too rare.
