Open up the Workshop menu by hitting the (q)uery button. It'll list items in various ways. If he was "taken by a fey mood" he'll say shit like "I need logs" wait to see if it changes. If it does those are the other required items. If it doesn't he already has everything he needs.

I'm at a loss on how to deal with engravings, visibility varies a lot depending on wall color, white seems to be the worst, and it's kind of a common color for stone. Haven't looked at it yet, but I presume twbt will tlet me change walls depending on wether they're engraved? if so that opens B and C as a posibility, or even full walls as normal and dithered walls as engravings (D)

I haven't tried he new dorf fort version yet, but is it possible to set the squads you send out on missions to not be in "sneak" mode? Is it possible to send a squad out to some location just with the goal of randomly killing people? Or does there need to be an artifact there to steal?

Incidentally, it'd be cool if the secrets could be transmitted verbally in game. In worldgen necromancers can teach their apprentices so I feel like verbal transmission is implied.

On that note, imagine going into a crowded marketplace, shouting out the secrets of life and death, and mass-converting everyone within earshot to necromancers.

Whenever I hear about the myth and magic update, it sounds like a "it can do literally aaaanything" thing.
I wonder what toady will focus on and how he'll break it apart into actually releasable chunks.

It seems that he'll announce it after this update/bugfixing cycle. I'm also quite curious to see. I hope the chunks are relatively small so we can see them implemented sooner rather than later.

Bronze colossi can't go unconcious, but they're not trap avoid, they don't need to in order to get caught.
The other thing is a known bug, it hits FBs in cavern pools a lot. They just lose the ability to path anywhere once they get underwater. Doesn't happen every time, though. I was kind of hoping the stuck-in-trees bug fix would accidentally fix this one too.

I'd like to see a world where the aboveground is ruled by necromancer warlords and their undead legions, with any living animals and humanoids being slain by the undead and carted back to the necropolises for reanimation, meanwhile the displaced living hide in caves and underground.

Toady said in the last FotF that he wasn't going to support Linux anymore, and even floated the idea of putting in malicious code to damage the machines of Linux users. Windows is next. DF was originally intended to be played exclusively on mac products, and I for one am glad Toady is finally prepared to enforce that.

Currently you get 2 hardcoded waves of migrants no matter what, but after that you wont. That might change in the starting scenarios update, which is scheduled for after the myth/magic update(s).

actually, checking the dev site makes it seem like starting scenarios are after the magic update

I hesitate to even say it but I expect the myth and magic updates to take at least 4 or 5 years. And then for the starting scenarios, another year or two. So let's say 2023 for myth and magic (hopefully some partial updates in between), and 2024 for the starting scenarios.

Economy and boats are the starting scenarios update. Starting scenarios needs concepts of status and property, which needs the economy, which needs boats. He's talked about this at length in FotFs.

Is that so? Reading the FotFs led me to the impression that they'd be separate.

Did random goblin ambushes get rebalanced? It's been a few years now and I haven't seen a single one.

Also note that there's no mention of boats in the starting scenarios section of the dev page, and that both the world economy and boats are in the unordered list below the artifacts/myth and magic/starting scenario section.

Boats seem likely to be done at the same time as moving fortress parts and siege weapons.

How the hell am I supposed to hold off the suicidal thoughts for that long
