RB1 DLC characters do make it easier, but they're not really on the same level as the gehaburn in RB2, so it's not THAT bad.

So i'm more or less free should I feel the need arise for RB1's DLC, got it.

They're good, but not game-breakingly so.

They're pretty strong in the first two or three chapters, because of their initial equipment. After that they're more balanced.

Also they have no story events, so until you play RB3 you won't know much about them.
