they increased the range on matches. for example, say you're 3.5k, you can play with people like 2.8k to 4.3k or some shit. maybe not as wide, but definitely much more than before. before, there would be like 50-100 max tops difference between players in general, outside of very high matches above 4k (unless you were in a really underpopulated server)
i don't know why they did that. a lot of pros complained about unbalanced matches because this kind of garbage happened at the top due to lack of players. i don't think the playerbase has decreased to the point where they'd need to do that, but maybe it has. either way, the matches have gotten significantly worse after the rework
