Why did the italians got off so easy after WWII? Their leaders and soldiers did plenty of evil shit, and their commoners allowed or supported it. They even fucking lynched Mussolini and his family.
How come the germans get all the blame and the italians dindu nuffin?
Ryan Fisher
Because differently from Germany and Japan there was a strong revolutionary movement, and at one point Mussolini even lost his power, all this before the end of the war (he managed to escape and to try something later, but that was it). By the end of the war Italy didn't count as an enemy anymore (a weird position in between, but we managed to avoid getting buttfucked like Germany).
>They even fucking lynched Mussolini and his family.
So? If the Germans had lynched Hitler would you call them out for it too?
Oliver Brooks
Seeing as they overthrew Mussolini, it was seen as the reason why Italy joined the war was because of Fascist party and Mussolini's ambition. If July plot succeeded, it might have saved Germany.
Ryan Hall
Italians are master negotiators and know what side to be on at what moment.
Also Italy dindu nuffin during the war.

War crimes? What war crimes?
Brayden Jones
Because they killed Africans.
Oliver Ortiz
we killed some commies and a bunch of africans, nothing more
Dominic Wright
The scale of the war crimes compared to the rest of the Axis may have something to do with that ("evacuation" of Split vs. the Rape of Nanking, for instance). Add the fact that most of the partisans were communists, and you can see why they didn't want to seriously process war crimes, and even going as far as putting some elites back in their positions.

Italy almost lost a war to Ethiopia before that. They're literally not relevant.
Connor Flores
Britain forced Ethiopia not to seek reparations.
Eternal Anglo and all that.

because Italy was very important and strategic for the cold war

what was done to mussolini and his family was cruel and unnecessary

>Why did the italians got off so easy after WWII?
Because they had the foresight to switch sides before the war ended. The moment they realized that the Allies were prolly gonna win they instantly turned around and begged to be absorbed into the winning team.

Where the Finnish version?

Because next to the atrocities of the Japs and the horrors of the Nazis, the wops seemed rather tame.
Landon Rogers
Fuck that, where's the BRITISH version? Would it be so big that it wouldn't fit in the file limits?
Liam Young
Because they switched sides at the end. Classic Italians.
>They even fucking lynched Mussolini and his family. Good.
Colton Taylor
Because the Allies had to be thankful that the Italians joined the axis, given how absolutely terrible they're at war, always being a burden rather than an asset. Italy being an ally of Germany was the best thing that could happen to the Allies. they were like the french and other resistance groups, destroying the beast from within, except they did it unintentionally.
Nicholas Morales
There's also a Japanese version but that's it (i think), wish there was more.
