Summary:
Next big history game is a setting they've never done before. Will feature "important character relations that occur between the major personalities in the game."

Screenshot sharing and campaign posting encouraged!

What's so good about Rome 2 DeI? I find the game to be very slow, please convince me

SEVEN FOR MONGOLS
I, the first Temujin poster, will post the rightful ruler of all the world, the bedder of a thousand women and the conquerer of all before him until we get a proper Mongol total war.

Greasus is displeased, eat the historyfags and claim the thread in name of Ogre Kangdomz!

up to you, but they're the best artillery in the game

*Shoots you*

But are pistols?

In MP they aren't worth how much they cost. In Campaign they are definitely worth it.

*teleports behind u*

Wouldn't constantly being carried by skinny pointy gobbos hurt?

It never hurts to have an artillery piece.

Ogre's are protected by a literal layer of fat all around them and their nervous systems aren't too good so they don't feel much pain at all in fact. It's a status thing anyway, Greasus claims he is now too rich to walk as he exacts a heavy toll of gold from all his minion ogres and traders going to and from Cathay

It's too late. Total War: X-COM when?

As Durthu is it my unabiding duty to go and turn the donut into a jungle?

>not making friends

So I've been avoiding buying TW WH 2 until a bit after it released like I do with all CA releases.

I was thinking about picking it up for gaming over the Christmas period.

>Is it in a playable state yet?
>How's the DLC?
>How does it rate vs 1?

I've really not seen any news about it since release at all, though I don't really follow the gaming press.

I'd also accept reviews by user which I guess I'm asking for anyway.

its fun

>the vortex campaign has no replay value and ME is unplayable, you can maybe squeeze out a full campaign or two out of it before you get sick of it
>there is no DLC and only one patch since release
>looks slightly better, has far worse and less content, doesn't run even close to as well, the new races are pretty fun though if you can stomach the gutted rosters

>Is it in a playable state yet?
Vortex campaign is fine, Mortal Empires is a bit lacking because the final big content update for WH1 isn't in yet for some reason, the stat changes are in a beta patch although the DLC RoR's and Norsca are still at at "not yet" stage.

>How's the DLC?
Doesn't have any yet, just the combined map if you own both as FLC and blood.

>How does it rate vs 1?
Personal opinion on which races you like best really, although WH1 being in a final state with all it's DLC makes it feel fuller than the Vortex campaign does now. Mortal Empires still has the issues mentioned above, when all is said and done it'll be the best of both presumably.

>no DLC?
Really? This game was released by CA right?

So they've Rome II'd it?

I guess I should wait until next Easter for it then?

I wonder what else I'll play on my break then.

they've completely dropped all support on warhammer 2 in favor of making and marketing history DLC for a 5 year old game. The game is suffering from several gamebreaking bugs (especially in mortal empires) and balance issues yet CA won't even answer questions. It's better to just wait a year or two to pick WH2 up on 66% sale when WH3 comes out and WH2 actually gets the content it desperately needs

Man if I'd pre-ordered this I'd be pissed.

Attila's campaign is kinda slow, isn't it

especially as a great migrator

the pre-order bonus DLC for warhammer 2 is not even playable yet, months after release when it was promised to come out "weeks, not months" after release. CA just straight out lied as their marketing really leaned on the combined campaign map for WH1 and 2 when it's not even close to being playable after all this time

>ME is unplayable

Not it isn't. It is good with the norscan income nerf mod

>Tomb Kings still not announced

Should I even bother with sword units in Attila or should I just spam spearmen as my anvil with some axes in reserve for elite infantry?

Well shit.
I was quite looking forward to buying this.
I take it you guys and plebbit are up in arms?

SPEARMANII

even plebbit is finally starting to get angry about the lack of support, most of the normies are still distracted by all the Rome II DLC and Thrones of Britannia shilling, just as CA planned

>Man if I'd pre-ordered this I'd be pissed.

Meh I got it for half price and I had fun with the vortex campaign. I even have fun with the ME campaign now.

Fuck that then.
I guess I'll play X-Com instead then.

Good luck guys, I hope this game turns out better, the first one was pretty good. It's a shame actually as I'd have loved to smash all these new races as the Empire again.

As a fantasy shill, don't buy until early 2018

are you meant to fucking expand in vortex or not? it seems a little silly when chaos/other factions will just spawn doomstacks in your home province anyway, but turtling for the entire game waiting for the bar at the top to tick up is boring as shit

To be entirely honest, the Vortex campaign is a lot more fun than people are giving it credit for here. It's a lot better than 1's grand campaign and the overall experience really helped tone down a lot of the issues that earlier total war games have had, mostly that you aren't just constantly steam rolling all the time once you get big. It's a definite improvement in my opinion.

Just go invade other lands and steel their ritual resoruce sites. You can fund a alot of armies, and if you need to, you can march them home before starting the ritual.
Just be warned that when you expand, if you take some important cities those may become on of the ritual channeling sites, so your forces may get split.

Does anyone want to argue with this guy?
I'd actually not mind buying TW WH2 and I'm not just making you guys fight for my amusement, I'm genuinely curious.

>It's a shame actually as I'd have loved to smash all these new races as the Empire again.
But you can exactly that, with the Foundation patch even being there at last. And DLC will likely be announced very shortly after Empire Divided hits because CA has this refusal to market two bits of content at once (think the Norsca - WH2 stretch for a recent example). The fact CA's teams communicate so poorly there's this much of a delay in Norsca as there is is utterly retarded yes, but it's not nearly as much of a dumpster fire as this guy is pretending it is.
At this point you might as well wait though, you've waited this long already.

I won my legendary Kroq-Gar campaign and never owned more then 6 cities. That's what vortex boils down to, it actively punishes you for trying to expand by spawning chaos stacks in your weaker provinces

>Want to play Rome 2 because of the setting
>Attila is just such a better game than it
>the setting is shit though

help me god

>Varg send three stacks at me at a single army of Swordsmen, Crossbowmen, and a few mortars
>Choke point map
>Probably would win due to sheer numbers alone, despite me having the defensive advantage
>Only game changer is a Bright Wizard
>The Norscan hordes mass in the choke, Swordsmen and Spearmen fighting valiantly, but inevitably gonna crumble to the trolls and chariots, crossbows and mortars don't have enough ammo
>Overcast a Flaming Skull across the front line
>It fucking BOUNCES in the choke moving out towards the enemy lines back and forth
>Completely massacres the Norscan army
>they route shortly after
>wizard has like 1200+ kills

Fucking christ that was amazing. That battle was definitely the Death sentence of the Varg. By the time they got another army I razed half their shit.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. You're at much larger risk of losing minor hard to defend settlements during the later rituals if you do but if they're at that kind of risk from only the spawned armies, they're likely pretty secure in general from everything else. And if need be you can steer the spawned armies reasonably well be positioning near and in places you don't want them at.

Well I have zero perspective, but as a newbie to total war: warhammer, I've been having alot of fun with the main campaign and Mortal Empires. I say newbie because I didn't play WH1, so if you did, obviously that's going to affect your expectaions.
Mods like the minor faction unlocker also add replay-ability.
I've got 111 hours currently in-game, still going strong in the middle of my Dark Elf ME campaign.

I wish corruption was more of a problem that you had to address. Seems too easy to deal with corruption.

Is it possible to use non-Roman tactics for factions like the Celts and stuff and still win? Using the standard rank and file just feels immersion-breaking to me at times

I finally got around to play attila and I'm not seeing it as vastly superior...there's neat stuff like siege escalation but really it's not like that was something I always thought was missing or anything. Sanitation is more a hassle than an interesting mechanic to work with while there is food already and the family tree isn't something I ever paid much attention to since the earlier games. That coupled with the fact that you either start already big as the romans or as one of the flavours of barbars doesn't make it any more exciting.

I'm really trying to like it more but I feel like I'm failing.

...

The mechanics are better and more in-depth, it's just, as you said, you either play a roman blob or some dirty barb

>DM Nappypoon as Russia
>Hype myself up for a war with the Ottomans
>Everything but Constantinople and Belgrade are undefended

>play dm napoleon
>battles are messy as fuck

not sure if I like that

Granted I've only played for a little bit but they seemed tidier to me. The AI actually held a battleline.
I could never run anything other than Rome:TW up until this year though so maybe I'm just imagining it

Same guy, but I really enjoyed how it gave identifiable goals that expanded beyond just blobbing and that the AI had a tendency to actually expand and be competent threats into the mid and late game. Stuff like the spawning chaos stacks are all manageable as well as long as you know what you're doing after the first time and throw in a nice little wrench. I'm also a fan of the map, I liked staging a Dark Elf Normandy landings into End Game Africa which was totally controlled by vampires. It was a new experience that I hadn't really seen in any total war. And I've been playing Total Wars since Rome 1, so I can at least claim to not be a newfag.

>they dropped all support
>source your ass

U jsut played slavs in Attila for the first time.
What the fuck was CA thinking with those fucking archers. They are completely broken and unfun. Was that their answer to making slavs good enough to fight the huns? Giving them cheats.
Ruined the whole slav faction right there for me. I hope there is a mod to disable them.

STOP STOP STOP STOP

>try out arena
>play as the Greeks
>enemy cav rides straight into my phalanx

Okay then

>The game is suffering from several gamebreaking bugs (especially in mortal empires)

That's wrong, though.

New to the series. In Shogun 2 if enemy makes a really long line of troops and I make line of same length how do I tell my troops to attack it evenly and not just one unit I clinked on? I hope I don't have to give orders one by one

Group them, lock group and then order an attack, they will pick their closest target

...

>mfw fimir/norscaposters got retroactively BTFO and removed from the game

it's your duty to turn everything into a jungle

Nice

It seems to me like they pushed back Norsca because they want people playing Rome 2 instead of Warhammer 2. They miscalculated how many people only care about Warhams and don't give a shit about Rome 2 though, so they had to rush out a token update to appease them.
The Norsca patch is probably already done, they are just sitting on it, so that they can release it at a more opportune time. Like with a dlc release, so that it will bring back a bunch of players who will potentially buy the dlc.

The doots will always be waiting in the shadows. I'd really hope CA learns a fucking lesson from this about communications between development teams but probably not.

I'll get it off my chest: I started TW games with Rome and Rome II with DEI was one of the best experience I had with the serie

We gotta go back

YAMEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

...

>Playing orcs.
>Most southern area of the map.
>Deciding not to auto-resolve every dwarf encounter
>This means losing most of my units because most orc infantry are fragile soyboys
>Chaos Happens
>5 stacks appear in the middle of my nation fully decked out with chosen and artillery, when the old dude kept pointing to the north, acting like that was where the threat was coming from.

Gross

Now I see why people are sorta shitting on WH1.

>wh2

presumably you mean wh2:me, and yeah the desert & sea chaos spawning is utterly retarded.

By that time you should have saved up a lot of money through sacking 2bh

...

...

...

I guess I made the mistake of pushing hard north, those snowy dwarven fortresses are tough.

...

>be waiting for Total War: Victoria like

1-3 Continue my Empire ME non-human genocide campaign
4-6 Play Fallout 4 and those DLCs I was a good goy and bought but never touched
7-9 Start a Lothern campain because ME is shit unless you play the TW2 races
0- Beastmen Malagor campaign

I'm the fag thinking about buying it.
Elaborate please?

>fug.

Thanks user for this. I am quite liking the sound of this.

I think I'll mod the hell out of it if I get it.

That sounds boring as fuck.

...

I had a lot of success just sacking stuff instead of expanding that much as the greenskins. The money went into building up my core lands(basically 2-3 provinces) and having two elite stacks + medium tier stack. My income was shit, but I had a lot of cash. I built up my shit in no time with all that early cash.
