Meta-Board thread

>Muh secret club
This board is too strict.
discussions on recent facts should be accepted.
>B-But /pol/
That board is full of shit and it's called political INCORRECT, that doesn't seem the place to discuss certain themes. This board is called History & HUMANITIES so recent happenings should be allowed.
>Yoi are gonna ruin this board!!!
No I won't. If mods still gonna ban lowtier discussions and trolling nothing is going to shit.
>Meta-Board threads go on /qa/
Who and what board does that? Every board has at least a meta-board discussion on his cataloug

Notice me MODS

We shouldnt discuss recent events, even if you dont want to go to /Pol/ you can go to /news/ or /int/

Why not? That's not history or HUMANITIES?

Yeah, but thats what happened to /b/, it became only porn because of the excuse of >why not if it is RANDOM?
We should discuss Humanities in a less political or "recent" way.

The greatest benefit of studying history is to learn about the present. I think that discussion of current topics from a historical viewpoint should be allowed.

>HUMANITIES
Humanities is more denoting that you can also talk about subjects in the humanities, like archaeology, psychology, performing arts or other liberal arts and sciences. It does not mean the board is a pol-lite free-for-all to discuss current events.

(OP)
>HUMANITIES
>Recent events

You don't know what humanities are do you?

Fuck off. If you want real political discussion, make /pol/ great again. Or discuss it in /news/.

>historical viewpoint
keywords, but the thing is that, when discussing so, the trend is to discuss the "current topic" rather than the historical elements.

Gotta say I'm genuinely mad we can't discuss the Kosovo war (a historical event) because of the dumbass 25 year rule but vague shitposting and asking Jaden Smith-esque questions is free game because LE HUMANITIES. Humanities have to go.

Seee?
Present events are fucking important, I don't want this board to become pol-lite but don't be so strict with the fucking rules

I just want humanities to fuck off. Look at this: hiw is this even allowed here? It shoukd be merged with Veeky Forums.

...

Too much religion, /pol/, liberal faggots and other bullshit.

It was great when it first launched and was historical /k/.

Talking about some sociological phenomena is alright, thus some things that are contemporary.
For example discussing economics, or the horrid transformation of the western "liberals" will surely have some discussion about current events.
If you allow that you'd basically get /pol/ and/or /int/ without flags.
A bunch of people larping as their country.
While i wouldn't say it's poorly janitored, i'd say it's still not enough, when you see threads with the same premise and same picture pop up every other day (and i'm tired of seeing Marx, Princip, Zhukov, Hitler etc.)
Not like it isn't discussed on this board. People generally bring it up in Yugo threads.

>We shouldnt discuss recent events, even if you dont want to go to /Pol/ you can go to /news/ or /int/

While I’d like a board for (somewhat) serious discussion and /hist/ would be the place for it, I have to agree with you.

Sadly, /pol/ is too fast moving and peppered with too much shitposting, while /int/ is a teenage wasteland of ignorance and /news/ stupidly imposed a “no opinion pieces” policy, that pretty much limits it to discussing the fucking weather (in addition to a retarded home page).

Everyone here is a crossposter, let's see:

/pol/: easiest to spot on Veeky Forums as they start yapping about niggers and Jews even in a completely unrelated thread, will get booty devastated and call you a kike when they encounter disagreenent

Veeky Forums: pseudo intellectualism, pretend cultural elitism and a condescending behavior towards anyone without a humanities degree, aggressively buttblasted about STEM posters. They're the ones always posting about Zizek, Chomsky, Nietzsche, Stirner etc.

/int/: biggest retards around, low IQ, nonstop posting about the number of inventions, size of empires and other country dick measuring contests like they're still on their homeboard

/leftypol/: cancer, will start endless threads about Marx and Rosa Luxemburg and send everyone who isn't a communist to /pol/, despite all their content being recycled /pol/ memes

/k/: weapon posters + Rhodesia memers

/gsg/: shitposting, memes and vidya autism, sadly the most actually Veeky Forums related posting on this board though

/r9k/: any bitching you see about women and it's bound to be these guys

we need a Politics board ffs with strict moderation to keep the /pol/ shits at bay.

>a true politics board has never been tried

Out of all of these i want /int/ to fuck off the most.

/k/ doesn't talk about historical wars or general strategy enough, I wish Veeky Forums would do it more, but because of the groups you cited chiming in, Veeky Forums has kind of fell from that good "night /k/" talk.

>& HUMANITIES so recent happenings should be allowed
If anything you prove this board should have an IQ requirement

i've only been here for 4 years

There is a politics board user, just happens that crazies and borderline shizos have a penchant for political stuff

>This board is too strict.

You're supposed to provided "credible source material" with your arguments. Hardly anyone does this, 'cause how do you cite memes?

"Blatant racism and trolling will not be tolerated," somehow doesn't apply to the three holocaust denial threads posted per day.

Not supposed to discuss the contemporary consequences of historical events, no worries just pretend your thread is alt history.

No discussion of "current events or popular culture," just pretend your interested in humanities and make your "reddit atheism h8" thread anyway.

Sorry to hear that

>/k/ doesn't talk about historical wars or general strategy enough

It used to be pretty good for it, at least when /k/ included military history. Was also harder for armchair generals to bullshit with the number of veterans to call them out.

this filename is way too detailed

>Wanting to bring /pol/ to Veeky Forums coz /pol/ is shit
What a moron

You are right, Veeky Forums used to have all those shit but noooooooooooooo hiro wanted a new board

/And Humanities / was a mistake

You forgot Veeky Forums: On topic posting, often citing actual books

Thanks but no thanks, we have enough low quality threads as it is , no need for more just because you don't get your replies on /pol/

Talk about history or get out.
/thread

NO. FUCK OFF.
& humanities was already a mistake, the 25 years rule is the beat thing here. The rules are great as they are now. Go shitpost on another board, what you are proposing would transform this one into shit.

>That board is full of shit and it's called political INCORRECT, that doesn't seem the place to discuss certain themes. This board is called History & HUMANITIES so recent happenings should be allowed.

There's one change to make, which is splitting off religion or philosophy into a /rel/ or /phil/. You're kidding yourself if you think opening Veeky Forums up to /pol/ topics will do anything but invite more /pol/ here.

>No I won't. If mods still gonna ban lowtier discussions and trolling nothing is going to shit.

>be less strict!
>stay strict tho!

sorry

*best thing

>It was great when it first launched and was historical /k/.
Low quality threads and juvenile jingo, thats why military history threads are a red flag here.

>not mentioning /twg/

daily reminder that this board was shit from day one

I'm not even a Veeky Forums regular, but please, this place is patently better than /pol/

>the three holocaust denial threads posted per day.
Veeky Forums's Overton window has become so fucked by pol that the mods buy holocaust denial as a normal viewpoint.

Fun fact, in many European states this can have legal consequences, especially funny if some retarded rightwing nutcase spergs out on twitter or FB.
>two clicks and you have him in for a couple thousand € in legal fees.

>discussions on recent facts should be accepted.
It already is, however current politics aren't part of it unless you frame it in such a way that it can be discussed in an academic manner. That's not a hard thing to do. All it requires is you having above double digit IQ and don't half-ass it as "Histicially,...". Humanities isn't codeword for "my opinion".

I think we should expand the 25 year rule to a post-2000 rule. As it stands important events like the Yugoslav wars, the Congo Wars and most of the events surrounding the disintegration of the Eastern bloc are technically not allowed. I also think the mods should actually be stricter if anything on the count /pol/ and /int/ tier threads are an epidemic.

The mods here are far too lax.

>The mods here are far too lax.
Bring back the terror!

>The mods here are far too lax.
they are just strict enough.
We have the occasional /pol/ thread and that's it.

>Yugoslav wars
top /pol/ material
no, thanks.

You can basically discuss them without any repercussion.
Recently i made a post about transitioning economies and linked some articles and graphs, mostly about difficulties some former communist countries faced while others didn't.

also ww2 threads should be banned

>the occasional /pol/ thread

>occasional /pol/ thread
lol

Hence why we need stricter mods.
Ban the /pol/ shitters.
Allow the historical discussion.

>military history threads are a red flag here

kys senpai desu

he's right tho

I for one would like to propose we ban the roach.

His shitposting is at least mostly funny.

>this place is patently better than /pol/

no /pol/ is better overall given size, Veeky Forums has only issue select superiority.

new Rome thread when

I fucking hate /int/

>discussions on recent facts should be accepted.
>That board is full of shit and it's called political INCORRECT, that doesn't seem the place to discuss certain themes.
that's why you'll fit in.

butthurt STEMfag detected. tell me again about objective utility and purpose.
