I don't understand your question, you can only merge units you have duplicates of, and other than losing the ability to fodder off a skill of theirs, there's no cost for merging unless you want to be cheesy and run 2+ of the same unit in arena

I say always merge your favorites, and remember there's nothing wrong with having a long-term project

I'd go with +spd, with -res you have 29 res which is enough to ploy most common units and then with swift sparrow you have over 40 spd on initiation, enough to double most units.

Possibly distant counter to cheese mages if you have a Hector to spare. But defiant atk would synergise well if the aim is to get Lyn's health low.

The desert isn't so bad, just tedious. The poison floor maps are REALLY annoying. Cantor spam is annoying as fuck. Keeping Silque alive with all the open maps where they keep spamming high mov enemies (cavs, bow knights) sucks. The stupid +evasion tiles turn everything into RNG: The Game. The maps are one of the game's main weaknesses, there's no denying that
