I'm not quite sure wether I should practice killing the first stage 5 boss without bombs or with bombs.
Because using bombs there is actually very difficult without losing your chain.
But not bombing there is very difficult without getting hit massively.

The problem is that he moves so fast. You can never really build up your chain metre much, so that you could just finish him with a bomb.
Instead you have to bomb and still let him live. And this is just really stupid, because you have let him have enough health to still get your chain metre up enough after the bomb, but you also want him to die, because he just completely freaks out at low health.

nah, i used a 1 bomb method on him for ages but now i know all his patterns and hes rarely an issue, the ogres far more annoying desu if he gives gay rng.

The ogre at least gives you enough time to bomb.
Yozu can just finish him off with a bomb without problems.
But the fast guy is just too fast and aggressive, plus you still must have good chain metre for the short cutscene between the bosse.

which is why you time a bomb to finish with a lil health left, its not hard to figure out. his first couple attacks are always easy which lets you take enough before bombing then finish him. His fastest pattern you just consistently tap in same direction to dodge anyway.

I already said that I do this, but it's still difficult to execute. It's very close. You can not leave too much health but also not too little after the bomb.
