Right, so ah, Book Club!
You guys ended up voting for The Call of Cthulhu, by H.P. Lovecraft. A little bleak for my tastes, but you guys voted for it, so it's what we're reading!
2 sources where you can read the book online:
en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Call_of_Cthulhu
hplovecraft.com/writings/texts/fiction/cc.aspx
Or, as always, you can go to your local library and see if they have it there!
Here's a terribly short summary on the short story (If any of you Lovecraftanons who've already read it wanna add more or correct anything here please go right ahead, I'm entirely inexperienced with Lovecraft):
A man (Matt Foyer) tells his psychiatrist of the struggles that led to his downfall, beginning at his great-uncle's bedside, where he receives a key to a locked collection of his papers. The papers reveal a lifelong obsession with an underwater deity, Cthulhu, around which a cult has formed.
I might actually need some of you Lovecraftanons to help me come up with some discussion questions when it's all over
Speaking of which, since it's a short story, how does this Sunday sound for discussion time? Or Friday, if you guys wanna cut it closer. I'm flexible with this!
If people wanna do comfy /ddlc/ Book Club Movie Night again, there's apparently a couple Call of Cthulhu film adaptations.
Here's the trailer for one of them (2005): youtube.com/watch?v=XHuY2wXTd0o
And one last thing before we all get to reading, how do you guys wanna handle our next book choice? Should we just go down the popular vote tally from the last poll, or should we host a new one with some likely new suggestions? It's up to you guys, I'm just your knightly host!
I'll admit it. I consistently tell the cuckolds to off themselves. They're the only ones I can't stand, I'm wholesome with everyone else except them. I just can't bring myself to have any semblance of respect for someone like that.
