When do I actually start to get a feel for when to use certain moves? I feel like right now I'm just throwing them out basically at random or because I happen to remember them or something.

Show me some of your high level matches

all starts with a plan
do you want to condition your opponent to duck and blow them up with mids?
do you want to throw out safe moves and follow up with CH launchers in your favor? do you want to use movement to bait whiffs and launch? a mix?

What is it about Jackhammer that makes it so spammable? Although it is safe, it's minus on block so Jack gives away his "turn", yet I see it over and over again in top level games

Thats why its best to learn kbd the proper way from the start.

Goddamn Hwo's combos are annoying as fuck to do. All these ff4 after launching and like stance switching, holding forward and then a button and tapping forward after just gives my hands the cancer. It's not super hard or anything just feels really delicate. I'm not sure I'm liking this dudes feel.

It's only -5 so it's entirely safe and Jack has a stupid fast low poke that will help under jabs as well as an extremely good i10 punish so it pressures the opponent because the safest option is to just block again because the wrong potential guess is a knock down (either from the i10 or the Jackhammer) which will follow up for a total of about 50 damage or Jack goes into full crouch in front of you which is extremely dangerous because Jack is a monster while crouching.

he's a gatekeeper character, if this is your first tekken you're going to hold a couple matches like that while you figure the game out. don't take it personally. if this analogy helps and you've ever played a fighting game where you thought a grappler was busted (not Gedo) because they have a massive damage unblockable that starts up super fast and has great range it's similar to that. eventually you learn that more often than not as you get better, grapplers generally stop being as big of a problem unless you're fighting a character specialist. it's just something you're going to eat shit on for a bit but if you keep at it you will just evolve past it. same with asuka and eddy. as soon as those matchups click, you're golden until you start fighting REALLY REALLY good eddy's and asuka's.
