The starting equipment is amazing, guns are sidegrades in the game. If you suck then blame yourself, aim better. Most of /ps2g/ has way higher KDR on alt chars with next to no unlocks just due to being more experienced in the game.

a decent player (not even that good, honest) on a 100% stock character will dumpster a new player with the meta builds maxed out every single time

Yes, all it told me is to bring medkits, play combat medic, and NC starter heavy gun sucks.

I've gotten a few stray kills from people that seem to be literally AFK but the most useful i've felt is just lobbing rockets at the spawn point APCs until they die.

The infantry guns feel really fucking weird and i'm not sure why, hearing there's no real direct upgrades is reassuring.

It's the most powerful LMG in the game, just not user friendly for beginners. That 200 dmg damage model drops people stupidly fast at long ranges. CERT out some attachments for it if you already haven't, the gun really needs em to become less unwieldy. Burst, don't spray.

Turn off shadows (the also have huge impact on FPS, because they stress Cpu a lot) and crank in game brightness all the way up

I'd go medic probably. Feels like the most potential for cert making to get you going.

People will say shit like medic or engineer or parking a sunderer is good, but if you look at the numbers, it's shit grind. It just ~feels~ like a lot because you get that +5 XP popping up constantly.

Do you want to actually grind certs? Learn how to get kills and unironically reach a 5+ KDA and you will outgrind medictards and sunderfags every day of the week.

Or if you're autistic, fill silos 24/7. Minimum 250 certs an hour if you're not retarded.

K/D isn't shit if you're using 10 minutes of slow cautious gameplay to get there.
maintaining your Score Per Minute so you'll achieve 1000 certs within a time frame that won't make you pull out your fucking hair is the best measure.

4-5 hours for 1000certs is probably only achievable with boosts and/or silo filling.
just build a fucking silo out in the middle of nowhere and kill it with not-tiberium.
