It's because of Ignis. Ignis uses 80% of his defense and adds it as damage, so he does 50 when he should be doing 1. Procs make a bloody massive difference.

Honestly I don't find the pebble stuff too bothersome. While he is obsessive about his loyalty, it never really got tiring to me. Frankly, I'm surprised at how Frederick is one of the most based units in the series.

One of the better, more human Awakening characters (and the only reason one can even try Lunatic), fantastic playstyle in Warriors, amazing stats in Heroes, and iirc he wasn't even terrible in the weird Fates/Awakening crossover DLC.
