Anything which is difficult becomes trial-and-error at some points. These games are difficult, yes, but also very rewarding because of this. It feels exciting to become better at them.

Learning things and getting good is inherently enjoyable. Shmups have a lot of things going for them from the presentation to the concept itself (completely free movement with nothing limiting you, perfect controls), scoring systems that activate your almonds. Also most of the things that go along with being an arcade game which is short length, over the top presentation, intensity, etc.

Depends on if I'm actually going back to playing again. I'm honestly pretty tired of this badly balanced game. It's fun playing it for score, but it obviously has its flaws.

Currently I am actually more interested in game devving again. But I am totally not sure where to go with this. I tried to create laser lock-on for background enemies, like in Rayforce, but I have no idea how to do this since I am working in perspective. Seems like all I have left is making a lock-on like in CCWI, but I don't really find motivation to work on something so unoriginal. I will probably just do it anyway, because why not, but it's really annoying... everything has already been done in this genre, except you are genius perhaps, it's really hard to create new mechanics.
