So from what I've gotten out of guides and some research, rerolling for a primal summon is the best long term investment for a newfag? No account buying.

depends on how much money you're planning on spending

Primal grids heavily depend on gatcha weapons and it only keeps getting worse.
Depending on which element you are mostly interested in I'd recommend rerolling for shiva/europa/alexiel/baha/lucifer and at least 1 great character for that element as well. It will take long time and might require some free 10 draws to happen though. Eventually you will want to have all elemental grids, but in begininng and outside of ele resistant content you will focus on one.

Maybe so, but that's easily 6+ months of playing without any use out of your primal. If you reroll for shiva/europa/alexiel/baha/lucifer instead, you can use those straight from rank 1 for a massive early game power boost, and none of those summons ever fall completely off. Your end game summon grids will still run any of those, since the calls are very powerful even if you don't use them as main summon.

Its painful as fuck to try and get them to work together, but when you do get it to sync up the results are amazing. Often times, though, you're better off going one or the other, unless its a long fight that is throwing out a lot of party-wide attacks.

Not really, even without EMP they're manageable. Sometimes the game decides to fuck you up, and it will fuck you up, but doesn't happen often enough to be a problem.
