No. It's that way for XP gains, not playing experience of any sort.
That clan is strictly for avatar XP, clan high scores, and citadel, without any other obligations. The chat is dead almost around the clock and there are no events. It wouldn't make you any less lonely.

So how should I be training invention? I get that I’m supposed to augment my gear, do slayer until my perks are T10 or something, but should I be using cheap gear and consuming it at the end or use good gear and siphon the xp off?
Any specific perks I should leveling up while doing this?
Keep in mind I only have lvl 30.
perks have ranks defined at the time of creation
item level, disassemble at 10 siphon at 12
only disassemble items if you dont mind paying for a new one
its good to have scavenging 2 or better early on in training since it takes a while to get any good stuff from it
you can also train fishvention with the rod-o-matic if combat isnt your forté
