A really awful, buggy release, and the devs were focused on "realism" for a time instead of making the game fun, like telling people that they cannot have two-handed axes because it is not "realistic", but then finally adding one in, but you needed 22-24 strength to use it. There were also "muh realism" features in VC that got removed eventually. VC is good now, at least.

I was going to buy VC but saw it had low ratings and Napoleon had good ratings. I'm not a smart man.

VC had bad reviews at first because of a bad, buggy release, but it has since been improved on considerably.

Now liking VC is much more of a personal preference thing, since not everyone likes Infantry-only battles and VC's other features, like it's rail-roading campaign (you cans till play Sandbox like regular VC) or Sailing combat.

I do enjoy it and would recomment it if you enjoy Infantry battles and the setting in particular.

Even then Campaign lets you roam and do whatever you want to do around the map save for certain moments before and after Campaign missions.

not to mention you don't even have to play storyline

Get a horse
Get mages and some random ranged units
Find zombies between Swadia and Rhodok
Trot around them and have mages kill weak zombies
Have ranged units kill stronger zombies with mages
Get good loot

Grind zombies and later orc patrols, spam int, become a god

You need higher Necro skill.
Losing control over them is dependent on it.

You can get certain items tartificially increase it.

There are four spells that you really need, the basic magic missile, the missile storm, the slow spell, and the fireball
