How fares your empire, /gsg/?
This day in history, 16th of December: 1707 – The last recorded eruption of Japan's Mount Fuji released some 800 million m3 of volcanic ash. 1773 – To prevent the unloading of tea that was taxed without their consent under the Tea Act, a group of colonists destroyed it by throwing it into Boston Harbor (pictured). 1850 – The Canterbury Pilgrims aboard Randolph and Charlotte Jane arrived to settle Christchurch, New Zealand. 1918 – Vincas Mickevičius-Kapsukas declared the formation of the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic, a puppet state created by Soviet Russia to justify the Lithuanian–Soviet War. 1997 – "Dennō Senshi Porygon", an episode of the Japanese television series Pokémon, induced epileptic seizures in 685 children.
What is the best strategy to westernize fast in Victoria 2? Like that dude who westernized as Zulu in 1871 in a previous thread.
Tyler Ortiz
what the fuck happened janny?
Brody Lopez
Did the janny sperg out again?
Henry Jones
Ah yes
Lucas Ross
research military reforms and then go on to conquer shit Or, if you have a writing system already, you can wait out for the university reform which is pretty OP (although it's the most expensive in the game so it balances out?)
Josiah Rodriguez
Cascadia user, I got fascist flag done but I gotta go now, sorry! I'll make the others tomorrow probably. Sorb user, I made your flags, search the archive, they were in the last thread. See ya later, guys.
Wyatt Murphy
man eu4 england is not comfy at all if you plan on keeping your french shit together
I didn't even want to do this, all I wanted was to colonize america and play as the thirteen colonies
Anthony Phillips
I'm fucking dying Usually you take the universities reform if you already have at least one military reform or don't plan on blobbing anymore, which isn't Zulu's case since they begin with no military reforms and will blob. So I went with foreign training, then university, then land reform and I'm now 50% westernized already. Zulu also has a gimmick that you'll notice once you play for a year or two as them.
Charles Nelson
HOI4 KR where?
Liam Carter
Black and based
Jaxson Davis
Glad this shit general is finally getting fucked by the janny. Hopefully he'll perm ban it.
Elijah Gutierrez
is the Janny okay like is he having problems at home to react this way whats ur fucking issue?
Jaxson Harris
Does taking more military reforms increase the amount of research points you get as you conquer stuff?
Tyler Gonzalez
Any /gsg/ of the renaissance/early modern period that isn't fucking retarted?
Aaron Scott
>gsg >not retarded you're not gonna find much my friend
Kayden Cook
Also is there any events you should know about when playing Zulu? Also how did to take the purple nation to your south(xhosa?) despite them being in the British sphere of influence? Also how is the spawning of the Boer states handled if you conquer the places they spawn? Sorry for spammy questions.
Jason Peterson
what happened, I go fap for minutes and suddenly thread is dead
Austin Flores
This is what happens when you make threads 30 posts early, HPM. I hope you got banned.
Brody Sanchez
HPM made a thread 30 posts early and the based janny BTFO'd him.
Charles Gomez
How did you take the purple nation*
Connor Anderson
Thread got deleted because it was made by a ban evader.
Jacob Torres
>30 posts ah yes
Gavin Murphy
Exactly, HPM's trademark. Hope he gets rangebanned with his 30 post early threads and refusal to add any other mod to the OP.
Ayden Phillips
This is in great sympathy for all those Americans who died because nothing was done to stop the terrorists - until it was too late.....and for my good friend and Shamwari = (Lt) Shaun Visser now living in PA USA - a Terrorist slayer extraordinaire and good friend of Buffy!!!! and the last true Rhodesian but me....who worked with me many times and shares a special place in what is left of my heart...Forward Buddy Forward - Shaun...Aluta Continua...it will never end.....
Michael King
What, no valid target? But they're animists, they shouldn't need a target. Yeah, at least in HPM it does. >Also is there any events you should know about when playing Zulu? Natalia will secede and the best option is to give the land away, otherwise the British will take them into their sphere or even worse, puppet them. If you just allow them to have their independence, the British won't bat an eye. It's also interesting to beat Gaza early since Portugal will get that land sooner or later otherwise. >Also how did to take the purple nation to your south(xhosa?) despite them being in the British sphere of influence? They leave their sphere of influence after the British get a decision to take Port Rex from them. >Also how is the spawning of the Boer states handled if you conquer the places they spawn?] They secede regardless of who owns it (I think the Netherlands has been an exception to that since some updates ago? Not quite sure). If you don't have cores on them, and Zulu doesn't, you will have to spend 22 infamy all over again, so it might be preferable to not touch Transvaal at all until proper Transvaal secedes. Zulu has a core on the Vrystaat though, so you can get that for no infamy.
Jason Price
i like to give some countries incredibly unrealistic borders (not big, just weird like giving nepal the entire mountain range, chile the entire coastline of south america, georgia the US state, israel literally anything) at 1836 and give them huge buffs to everything (or random changes like turning all pops in america to ashkenazi)
Daniel Collins
Because I've made a lot of changes and I need to make sure not only that they're stable, but that the AI is behaving properly, taking advantage of the new mechanics which were added, and that nothing is too unbalanced or presses too hard towards one particular outcome. I've just done a 400 year observer test with 0.21 which has revealed some problems I'll need to address, for instance. Images and a breakdown of the game to come.
If I jumped right into the AAR now the gameplay would not only lack a great deal of refinement that I can still give it, I would also be shooting this mod in the foot. I don't intend to release this publicly (although it will always be available for anyone on /gsg/ who wants to use it), but I do intend on making it the mod that I personally use going forward, so I want it to be well-balanced and complete so I can adapt it to future CK2 and HIP updates. It will make the AAR more interesting and more challenging if I can get it right, because basegame CK2 is far too easy.
Elijah Gomez
>10.00 >10.00 dude

So is you sayin...
Logan Myers
That's not /gsg/. Turns out most threads have problems with controlling autists ban evading to make early threads.
Riyadh looks so ugly in these new versions. Oh right, that. I just wish they could rebel already desu, there's no other pratical way to lower militancy as an unciv.
Lucas Phillips
What if its one person who is trying to control every OP
Ethan Lee
mate, if the average militancy is 9.89, chances are the lowest militancy is 5 with most of them at 10
you're going to get fucked
Brody Martin
Do other threads have holohoax shit in as well? Is this unironically JIDF?
Hunter Cox
poor france
Nolan Rodriguez
>that is for ban evasion what the fuck is going on
Julian Perry
This. That ban was 37 minutes ago, this OP was created 48 minutes ago.

I think the real surprise here is that Burgundy actually conquered Liege.
Jaxson Thomas
burgundy to blob outta control and then get inherited by austria
you're creating a monster user stop doing what you're doing
Colton Cook
Which reminds me, is a merc-only run as Burgundy too stupid of an idea to try? They get some pretty good bonuses for those, after all. Maybe get normal artillery and merc everything else? or just all-merc-infantry
Thanks. Might have to try a Zulu game my self then.
Brayden Rogers
>decades and decades with militancy in the skies >this is the first actual revolt the zulu monarch gets against him I think hell be fine
Oliver Wright
yeah fuck me right in the ass for trying to claim scotland i guess, everything has its price just like that german cuck Diepreht of >>>
Joseph Collins
wew did rebels get nerfed or something?
Anthony Hughes
>only 12000
what the fuck
Brody Moore
Illiterate pops tend to not rise up because they're too stupid.
Christian Jackson
Is there even a SINGLE reason to stay Catholic in EU4? Both Protestant and Reformed give various great bonuses through zeal and church aspects, and you can switch/cherrypick depending on your needs for your playstyle. Catholicism gives NO bonuses unless you're the curia controller. Not only is consistently remaining the curia controller difficult, but the advantages are minor and overshadowed by the guaranteed boons Protestantism and Reformed confer on you. Even papal influence increases very slowly for highly marginal boons.
I thought that perhaps the only advantage could be the Treaty of Torsedillas in the case of colonial powers, but even then it's shit. If you get that event in an area where you colonize, you get +10% global settler increase in that colonial nation. If someone else gets it and you try to colonize in that part of the world, you get a -20% global settler decrease and lose papal influence (not that the latter matters, given how useless PI is). On the other hand, if you're a protestant and choose "deport heretics" as one of your aspects you get a guaranteed +15% global settler increase everywhere all the time. That's a bigger increase than the Teraty of Torsedillas gives you without ever having to deal with the malus it can potentially give you. Sure, it does keep Catholic AI away from areas assigned to you but that's only a big deal if you're an early colonizer (Spain or Portugal in most instances) AND your big competitors (France, Britain, Netherlands, perhaps some others) remain Catholic (in most games at least the UK and Netherlands go Protestant/Reformed while France could go either way).
The only "advantage" I can consider is diplomatic situation, but even this can be spun in your favor: if you're a Protestant/Reformed nation surrounded by Catholics, it means you never need a reason to pick a fight.
Paradox should fix this rather than put out meme update after meme update.
Justin Hernandez
then why did russia have a revolution
Ian Davis
>he doesn't have a +5att +3def general And both me and the rebels have - military techs.
Adam Lee
The literate pops kept egging them on.
Landon Perez
The stronger the Reformation is, the easier it is to stay in control of the Curia. That's... about it. You can get good papal influence from conversion, though My experiences say otherwise
Lincoln Thompson
Because they were just not too stupid enough to know how to revolt.
Benjamin Lopez
Oops.
Jeremiah Miller
Why would you want to stay in control of the curia though? Sure, it's better than not being in control of the curia, but it's strictly worse than either Protestant or Reformed.
Camden Baker
and fuck you my dear brother, may
Benjamin Young
Crusades and excommunications (which don't actually do much good if there aren't any major Catholics left). Frankly, I tend to go convert myself, so I'm not the best person to be asking about this. When I don't, it's usually for flavour reasons
Aaron Morgan
For some reason pops in Port St. J*hns seem to be converting normally to Orthodox, while all big pops elsewhere don't seem to convert at all.
Asher Peterson
well duh it's called st. johns for a reason
Michael Kelly
Yeah it does need a buff, the only major benefit currently is that it's easily the best religion for a big nation in Europe.
With 6+ cardinals and a diplomat in Rome you can consistently be at 3 stability, get really good mercantilism, and have 100 legitimacy or big tax income. Plus pre 1650 excommunication is one of the best CBs in the game if you are the controller.
I do agree, however, every other religion kind of got a power creep going. Except Reformed, that shit is never good.
Wyatt Morgan
The muslim fears the poo warrior.
If you get big and get lots of cardinals, it's easy to get tons of influence and get manpower, stability, mercantilism, legitimacy, prestige and -interest. Tolerance of true faith is also neat if you convert everything.
Isaac Torres
>Crusades and excommunications Those are disable after you enter the 3rd age if I remember correctly. With the whole Catholic vs literally any other christian branch outclassing them thing, you only really want to stay Catholic if you are Spain/Portugal, as those two get a decision that gives them bonus PI per year, Spain has an idea for PI I'm pretty sure, and with all the conquering you do in heathen areas you'll be converting a lot, granting PI every conversion, so those two can stay in control more often then not. Even then, it's still a 50/50 split for me to convert or not. If you stay Catholic, it's really for RP reasons.
Kayden Anderson
Reformed can be good in cases. Granted, it's mostly limited to the Dutch and other heavily trade-based nations, but...
Landon Stewart
Why do non whites never coalition?
Christian Hughes
Who wore it better?
Ayden Young
What mod is that with the Anglo-Norse? Are there How many other Norse melting pots does it add?
Jason Bennett
They did form a coalition, this was after a few of them got into wars and dropped out so I picked them apart one by one for even more badboy points. They'll start another coalition as soon as the truces end.
Jace Diaz
left, nazis had god tier aesthetics
Nolan Brooks
>Except Reformed, that shit is never good. You can get either a big trade buff if you're a trade nation or a big morale buff if you're literally anything else. That's better than anything Catholicism has to offer unless, which your post addresses, you blob out of control. But the thing is that Catholicism barely helps you at that point. The thing is that it only gets good by the time you're so fully in control of Europe that you're already unstoppable anyway.
I'm kind of mad right now because I'm playing as Lübeck and really want to go either Protestant or Reformed (for dat sweet trade bonus) except my only consistent ally is Brandenburg and for some fucking reason Brandenburg not only refuses to go Catholic, but is the emperor and the head of the Catholic League.
Xavier Lopez
just a 1066 start as a godwine dynasty during normans conquest, they are anglo-norse. dont know if there are any melting pots other than awaiting english and just discovered that my son is a drooling imbecile
Jonathan Campbell
I wonder if that mod that added a Norse melting pot for every Indian culture group is still getting updated.
Luke Butler
quentisentially ANGLO
Michael Wood
We've done it again boys.
Luke Reed
lol
Isaiah Brown
Daily Reminder if you're playing as Anglo-Saxon England only reasonable Blob is Norway/Sweden if you are playing as English England then you take France.
Owen Wilson
yeah post a picture of yourself with those clothes lets see how you pull it off
Luis Roberts
what's the next step on your master plan
Caleb Walker
Neat. I should try it out, for too long I've limited myself to vanilla ironman outside of small changes or total overhauls
Nathaniel Moore
Oh, no doubt it's a nice bonus, but I'd argue Catholicism is better for the sheer speed you can rake in Mercantilism. I agree with the trade part. >big morale buff if you're literally anything else. Protestantism gives half of the morale buff with 2 additional beliefs, it's simply a no-brainer for a large nation who wants to go either prod/reformed. >That's better than anything Catholicism has to offer unless, which your post addresses, you blob out of control. That's true, you already have to be a GP for Catholicism to beat the other religions, and a massive blob for it to be a significant difference. I think if they gave it a small buff while increasing the number of cardinals it would go a long way to helping it out.
Historically in the 1500s the Pope increased the number of cardinals to 70, ingame it can never exceed 49, and I'm sure they would have allowed even more if Catholicism got bigger. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardinal_(Catholic_Church)#Numbers Not having cardinals on different continents is stupid too, there was nothing against it. It only serves to make catholicism shit to any non euro.
Samuel Ward
would it be unacceptable to blob Italy into Albania/Greece to make Mussolini's "Quarta Sponda" plan?
Jacob Nelson
>you will NEVER get nazi tier aesthetics back It was like an entire ideology design by an autistic art school drop out.
wait...
Joseph Cooper
Save, quit the game and pretend I'll keep playing this save any soon.
