Let me spell it out slowly for you, just in case you didn't get it the first time:

>build standard quick memes team (AKA 2 DPS and Jack) with Okita, MHXA, and Jack
>Jack produces stars on turn 1
>MHXA pops attack buff, places debuff on Jack
>this means on turn 2, only options to suck stars are Okita and MHXA
>MHXA pops Instinct/quick up
>there are now enough stars so that MHXA and Okita are loaded, along with Jack having the debuff meaning she won't suck up stars
>proceed to crit really hard

MHXalter isn't meta because she's fucking garbage even after her buff and anyone who has played the game can easily understand that after using her. There are examples of good quick units like Kintoki and okita, she is unsalvagably bad and seeing you try to talk her up is laughable.

Stop squandering it on a whim. It accrues extremely slowly via completing weekly challenges, as a veteran reward for logging in daily, and as apologems when the developers screw the pooch. If you're F2P the best thing to do is look for a rate-up on your desired servant scheduled for several months down the line, log in every daily to collect the quartz, and blow it all on the gatcha then. 300 is the base amount you need to give yourself a decent chance of rolling a 5*; you need about 1000 to almost guarantee you roll them, but even then RNG can just shit on you.

That being said, the scenario is hardly cherrypicked. All it takes is half a brain to plan what cards the next turn will have.

Technically all quick based servants are "not good" because they don't mesh with Merlin. Notice how Okita/Scat/Jack are all 9.5 on the meme list before Merlin appears. After he shows up, they all fall like a brick. In other words, without 2030 and Merlin fucking the game up, quick would probably be the best option out there.
