The problems and personalities of the three dokis not Monika are one person. The interests, things they are good at, what bothers them.

No, it doesn't have to be romance. It should make sense though. I just don't get what you're going for with this? Like, Natsayuri is a depressed cutter with an abusive father? Cool. Why? Is Monika still there? Why are the police there? Just write it, I'll read it, and then maybe it'll make sense/

There was this deep, looming dread that covered the entire world that she knew about. She didn't know if it was just the usual fog she had been seeing for so long, which she hid from the rest of the world, like at school. Maybe it was because of her parents, which were the reason she felt this way in the first place. It could be the loneliness, the dreaming of romance, of happiness; the moments she saw on television of people who were always smiling. Then again, it could easily be the police standing in the hallway, while students were brought into a room one by one.

There was six of them she could see, likely more posted inside and outside the school. They were scary, these big intimidating looking men, who stood in their blue uniforms. She had a hard time drawing her eyes from the pistol in the holster of one, the baton she knew was in the jacket of another. They had these frozen expressions, behind reflective mirrored glasses. The principal had stepped into her classroom and here she was, in this line. The door opened, and someone left the room, before walking back to the classroom.

Hanako was told that someone smuggled something into the school and this was a simple, private check to see if anyone had any connection. Drugs, maybe a weapon, was what they were looking for. As the line moved little by little, and she found herself moved closer and closer to the front of the line, she was wallowing in dread. Did she have any contraband? No. But what if they found out something about her by checking her? What if they found nothing? Wait… Her knife was in her backpack, what if they took that from her?

Finally, the door opened, and she was forced to go inside. She hesitated for a second, staring at the open door.

"You have to go inside miss." One of the officers said to her,

She swallowed, afraid to respond, but simply stepped inside and closed the door behind her.

This is why I asked if it had to be 18 year old male who does romance or 25 year old who like father figure.

Main character doesn't understand art, his motivations are getting inspiration from sad people and viciously enacting his vision of protecting others.

He's from a culture of like... 2A, hyper religious, Papa Bear types, who don't understand art, and have a culture entirely based on peacekeeping and intervention.

If you want to give Hanako someone to relate to at school, make MC that guy. Maybe an aloof pseudo-goth with no friends.
If you want Hanako to be totally adrift at school, but to have a supportive, yet clueless father figure, make him either her father, or an older brother with some amount of guardianship.
I find it easiest to work backwards. Where do you want her to be when you're done with the story?
Now, how do you get from point A to point Z. That's the story. I believe in you. Just open up notepad, or wordpad, or word, and just go for it.
