I wanted an open end and that ending montage would have exceeded all my expectations.
I should be depressed by all account, but that "Dark Room" scene after credits presents literally such a dissonance to the rest of the story that it's genuinely making me laugh instead.

This isn't a LIS prequel, it's literally a feel good story about romance and social issues that had to be tied to an entirely different game because, brand recognition I guess?

Here is some info(s) about Farewell. Lots of things may sound familiar to you but back then they were just rumours, but now some of them got certain. This ll only explaining how story will evolve between them.

There is a reason why this game called "Farewell" but not for the reason you think. We won't lose William nor see Max's moving in other city etc. Farewell term is actually stands for developer's hinting at you something,like like.. playing as Max for the last time -yet you MAY NOT see Max and Chloe for the last time ;)

I need to say this first, episode isn't empty and there are many stuff to do. There will be many side games/puzzles which you will be able to play with Chloe, so story doesn't only include their sitting on couch and reading their letters to each other or only seeing dialogues between them. Imagine Tlou's left behind DLC, (not its ending tho :D) there will be many games (dare,hide and seek/ hiding in closet, pirates) you can play with /stuff to do with Chloe which you can fail or win... since it will be depenant to yor choices, and there will be many adorable variants

Episode itself aren't that short either; its lenght won't be that short, it will be like 1h+ Again, there will be many comfy stuff to do.

Yesss, they will dress like a pirate (remember the pirate photo you saw in Max's room in ep1) you will see them like that.

I told you that it got certain that this game will be all prior to tragic events. As you know, William's alive so is Bongo and you will get chance to see them. Even Joyce -both of them will show up closer to the ending adon't worry episode will be comfy

There is a little possibility that Daughter will make cover of Jonathan Morali's Max & Chloe song for this episode. Don't get all whoosh on me yet, this is not certain but I have heard that they are keeping it in mind.

I think it being an entirely original game, story, and characters would have pleased everyone. to make a "Life is Strange Inspired Game" instead of an actual Life is Strange game that had to be tied to the first game.

I doubt they left forever. I really think part of the game was showing Chloe didn't hate the town itself. She hated what she thought it represented, it's why she wanted to leave with Rachel. She thought there was nothing there for her and the memories were getting too painful. She even says how she's been wanting to leave Arcadia Bay since Max left, but at the same time she says Max gives her a reason for being there still and that she won't leave her.
The town is important to both Max and to Chloe. It's where they were born, grew up, made memories, made friends, lost people, and that brought them back together. They leave then to go heal and be together, probably to go to Seattle and Max's family, but they'll return.

I dunno, I've been a pretty heavy Pricefield shipper but this game and that last diary entry in particular really shook my faith in that ship

What was the point of BtS? I don't feel like I gained any extra essential experience from it.

That's the point of a prequel.

I think the final 10 seconds could have been handled a little differently but I see where they were going with it. Maybe a few more scene showing stuff like Rachel meeting Frank and Jefferson, hanging with them, and then the Dark Room would have worked to show it was a line of events.
But then it would lack the gut punch they were going for.

I love that story and I love Pricefield.
Thank you to William, Rachel, and everyone else who played major roles in Max's and Chloe's lives and were supportive to them. And will be supportive to them.

The best thing about the entire game, and I'd say the entire series, was The Tempest/subsequent neighborhood scene and I challenge anyone to prove me wrong.

It only seems permanent because Chloe thought she was never going to see or hear from Max again. She moved on to Rachel because that was the present, just like she moves back to Max when she's returned and that is the present. As well as the future.

The huge drama of S1 was that Chloe had no job no money, no perspectives and so did Rachel.
Meanwhile at the end of BtS they are like "I guess we never got to escape haha :)" "Dont worry, we have all the time in the world".
And they have like 11k of Damon money + plus whatever Rachel's hush money was + a working truck.
Also Rachel's parents along with Chloe love her more than anything in the world and would do anything for her.
She clearly had no woes of the S1 Rachel whose parents didnt even care about her going missing.
