They should actually let the option to ask Settra for confederation in the game, but make him refuse the deal every single time, no matter how much he is beaten up, no matter how much money you are offering.

You already know which line he is going to say in the diplomacy screen when he's refusing your confederation proposal.

So we're supposed to see more historical than fantasy releases in the 12 months since July.

Base chance for an attack to hit is 45%, plus or minus the difference between melee attack and melee defence. Caps both ways, minimum cth is 5 and max I think is 85, could be wrong.
Charge bonus is added to melee attack and declines linearly to 0 over 15 seconds, and is negated by units with charge defence who are braced and facing the charge.
Bonus vs. adds to melee attack.

Damage is more complicated. AP is always applied regardless of Armour. Normal damage is mitigated by Armour, minimum 50% of the armour value is applied to maximum 100% of the Armour value. Randomly. Splash attacks are complicated and there's a good thread on the CA forums explaining it.
Bonus vs. and charge are added onto weapon strength the same way they are to melee attack. The follow the same portion of ap and normal damage of the base strength.

Mazda is bad due to baffling spell choices and the passive
Heavens slann is good, light is okay.
High magic as a lore is fairly bad. A slann with the signature lore spells would be pretty good though.
