The thing about the britbong fleet is it's way more consistent than shit like Eldridge; when I was using a fleet of Enterprise/Cranes/Indy/Portland/Leander I could just reload my way past Eldridge trolling and OWARI DA, it would have taken a supreme amount of luck to get past a proper britbong fleet. Likewise, now that I'm using a britbong fleet it takes terrible luck to lose to non-britbong, non-Hood/Akaga fleet, I can just reload a couple times and I'm through. Also Eldridge is so much easier to deal with using BBs; she's slow as fuck and makes it easier for your BBs to hit their front line (I have to laugh when I see Eldridge + CAs) and doesn't seem to proc her skill as consistently against them, whereas she'd seem to absorb my airstrikes 100% of the time.
You can hit rank 1 and definitely at least 100 with decent fleet with good equips simply due to opponents with weak defense fleets and unequipped defense fleets. I was able to hit rank 1 on Rabaul (though early on when it wasn't actually worth anything) using that CV and CA fleet above. Using britbong fleet makes it way less time consuming now though due to reduced reloads.

Nobody's saying it's impossible to place high just running whatever, I'm on Sasebo and I've placed in 40 while surrounded by Royal fleets and Akagas, but like you said if you want to consistently hit top rank for the rewards Brits are just the recommended, unless your ships are so blinged versus any of your opponents (you got lucky with matches) that it stops mattering
Yeah Eldridge is largely useless in offense because having a frontline surviving means nothing if your backline is destroyed by britbong BBs. Also since most people who try to put up an actual defensive party are now targeting other britbongs it may seem that you have a good chance with CVs but realistically you need to reload tons of times against a 12k/12k britbong team with proper AA.

But homing torp bombers completely fucking wreck juneau builds and can make eldridge RNG less frustrating.
Also a good amount of the time a few of the torp bomber spawns completely skip over the escort fleet and just fucking dunk on something in the back line before they even get a chance to do anything.

The German's actually had a pretty terrifying navy, especially considering it just plainly didn't even fucking exist pre-WWII.
Unfortunately it was also mostly u-boat's that did all the work, and it's kind of hard to represent all of that. So it's easier to just represent the German naval might through the big-name, recognizable ships - even if they didn't accomplish anything(Tirpitz) or were incomplete.

Whether the Soviets had the best tanks is debatable. They did not have the best aircraft nor tactics. They did have very good operational maneuver doctrine, better than the Nazis actually, and generals that knew how to execute it.
Quantity yes, quality no. By 1945 the Americans had the "best" stuff. The Soviets could never have defeated Japan themselves from the simple fact the Soviets did not have anything more than a meme navy, and as such could not hope to project beyond mainland Asia.
That's not a legitimate reason to whine about another ship getting included.
