The interesting point is just how absolutely shit Ubisoft is at implementing it as a concept - the challenges themselves are kind of shitty, the rewards are paltry, and they kind of go against the entire point of the game. But you are going to do them. Why? Because it's free Renown and it's just sitting there.

Siege is a game about picking heroes to work with your team the most, or specifically to try and counter what your opponents might pick. Having challenges telling you, specifically, to pick certain characters is a direct incentive not to make the most optimal choices. The worst is those birthday charms or other event ones, where you need to pick an operator from a Unit and do it across a fuck ton of rounds. Since everyone is fighting over these characters, they are always picked, and makes you feel bad when you don't get it... And since these characters are always picked, it ruins the meta and the experience for everyone. And you don't really get fuck all for it, since most of the time the renown could be earned in a T-Hunt farm match in 90 seconds.

Even things like "Get 10 shotgun kills" is kind of fucked because you are still limiting your choices to characters with that weapon you feel is viable. It's not as damaging, obviously, but it's still pretty dumb to encourage people to make suboptimal choices in a hero based game.

If you wanted to revamp the challenge system, you would need to make it Casual only so ranked doesn't suffer this bullshit. With the current system as is, it should be revamped to shit like

>Complete 5 matches without a single Team Kill
>Complete 10 Matches
>Play the Objective: Your team attempts to initiate the objective 20 times (Try to secure obj, touch the hostage or kill a hostage carrier, plant or destroy defuser)
>Play 1 match of each objective type
>One Shot One Kill - Kill an enemy with a headshot with your first shot
>Gadget User - use your gadget atleast once a round, for 20 rounds

Hibana is a top tier pick in every single conceivable scenario, without exaggeration. There isn't a single map, objective location, game type, or team composition on either side where she's a bad pick.

Capitao, meanwhile, is kind of ok at certain things. But any attacker with frags can replicate his gadget whilst also having a better gun *and* their own gadget on top.

Hibana is still more fun IMO. Capitao's only fun factor is killing someone with a firebolt, otherwise playing him feels like a chore
