The only three things that pissed me off from pendulum decks were qlis being more traps than monsters, the r4nk toolbox becoming degenerate to the point Ptolemaeus was made, which pendulum decks could make with ease and Kirin's entire everything. A hexproof compulsory that could fit in any pendulum deck whose scales were above 6 could drop Kirin at ANY time, but wait, Majespecter's scales only go from 2 to 5 so Kirin can't be pend summoned in its own deck without outside support such as Metalfoes or splashing Eccentrick Archfiend, Kirin was bad card design not because it was overpowered, but because you it belongs to an archetype that can't summon it unless you dare to tribute summon kirin.

Mechanically the game is fine, all the mechanics bring something to the table and are played differently, the problem is card design and how people find ways to abuse their effects, and keeping an eye over 7000 effects is not an easy task, I'm sure Grinder meme wasn't supposed to be used that way, people always find ways to break the game, so Konami needs to make cards that can stop or compete with that, players proceed to break the game again and repeat, this is where the power creep comes from, it happened once, it can happen again

I refuse to buy single cards outright, so I only have 2 ash blossoms I pulled from packs. Is it okay to replace one with snow ogre? I also have 2 of those as well so I'm not sure if I should run all 4.

Magical explosition is part of FTKs and can reach game ending burn damage by itself and it only requires the 2nd most generic card type.

The TCG never does this until a decade later seeing what happened to Gladiator beasts and by the entire logic of "THE OCG DID IT, THEREFORE THE TCG SHOULD DO IT", we should get back a whole bunch of shit if the correct cards were hit on the banlist, such as hitting Life equalizer so Upstart and Chicken can return to 3 or as you nailed it correctly, putting Hunter to 0 to get Zenmaity back and a whole bunch of other things, but the TCG has a different logic and their logic is that if old decks get their tools back people won't buy new stuff, and don't lie to yourself, Burning Abyss and Kozmo are decks that are still rogute-tier and can steal a top. And the other reason why Kozmo has 3 bank destroyer in the OCG is because that deck did fuck all of nothing over there unlike in the TCG where Kozmo kept getting tops after tops and seeing how Kozmo once got 1st place at an event with Zoodiacs and Dracos all around, they still have the touch.

Nigger your entire point with grandmole is that he has a gamebreaking mechanic with Kaijus, we're not including anything else but kaijus. And the idea of your opponent sending a kaiju to the grave is what made Luna splashable in kaiju engines, its a lose/lose situation, you want to negate Luna? you must drop your turtle, you don't negate Luna? she puts the turtle back in the hand and tributes something else. And using "archetype" is not an argument when said archetypes can do what grandmole does but better like Yosenjus, like Luna can bounce kaijus back during the main phase or Weather Painters who can make triple grand mole while grandmole itself is at 1 and needs you to attack something while other shit used to bounce back kaijus don't even use the battle phase.

With no Diamond Crab King, Towers Turbo ran wild in europe where enough complaints eventually got it banned. With Chicken Game banned, Upstart limited, Utopia The Lightning being in nearly every deck and Wavering Eyes having a huge indirect nerf thanks to MR4, Towers absolutely could not be the force he used to be, even if they also brought Scout and Saqlifice back to 3.
