For how popular Splatoon is, I can never, never seem to find anyone real life or in most online spaces who play it. Sometimes I get people, even those who are into video games, say they've never heard of it. I've met a good number of people who own Switches but not a single one of them own Splatoon. What's up with that? Do the majority of westerners just not care about it?

It is weird. I'm lucky since a few people in my circle of irl friends are pretty into the game but outside of us I've yet to meet another person into the game. I think due to the marketing it has a very "it's just for kids" reputation that will be hard to overcome in NA especially in the US.

That's a good point. Also, a good chunk of the time I hear people say "I'm interested in it but right now I'm only interested in playing story-driven single player games". Then go on to talk about how much they play MMOs or Overwatch. It's a little bizarre. I wonder if they think Splatoon behaves similarly to other online multiplayer games or something.

Damn, that sounds comfy. The single only high level player I've met in real life is a guy at an anime convention two and a half years ago. Someone hooked the Wii U up to the college's wifi and we got to play for a couple of hours before a staff member deleted the connection info.
