Don't know if its lack of burst, if I am not doing AoE dmg, or lack of stun, but I don't feel very effective and neither does Jaesa for a lv 50 comp, I was expecting her to be more resilient

Sometimes I do, I rarely die but I'm always at low health, that's why I wish to be able to kill shit faster

What makes you think its much different than when you left? It hasn't been that long

Consular and Warrior are the only classes that have CM sets as lookalikes for the boosted 65 sets (Wartime Ambassador and Dark Legionnaire respectively), the rest are just old PVE gear which you can get via the supply crates
Smuggler and Knight are the Resurrected (3.0 elite comms/storymode ops) sets
Inquisitor is the Yavin (3.0 basic comms/Ziost mission rewards) set
Trooper, Agent and BH are the Underworld (old SnV ops gear) sets
Trooper one can be recreated with an orange secondary dye, Knight and Agent might be a little more difficult since they have semi-unique palettes

if you're fine with skipping the entire class story, yeah, use a boost token
if not, start at 1, good time to level since there's like another week of double exp right now
