depends on the moves the opponent is doing
if he's doing weird shit that people normally don't do then that weird shit might track to the other side
also for paul for example you want to step him to the right but ff2 tracks there and doesn't to the left so you'll have to decide by the range which direction to step depending on what you anticipate they will do

Do ff n f, start slowly and build up from there. You won't get results fast, keep doing it for like 15 minutes a day for a week and you'll start to get the hang of it.

for real, people talk a lot of shit about matterhorn, claudio's hopkick and all that but u4 is another fucking level of cheap. I stopped playing DJ partly because of that move - when you're being pressured, instead of patient defense or movement you can mash u4 and get away with a 60dmg launch for free at least half of the time. The amount of shit it crushes is unreal.

Scrub. Her offense is shit. Relax and just poke, do a lot of unfinished strings to bait parry and discourage her from using it, use knees and elbows if your character has them. She thrives on you trying to rush her down, your best bet is getting a life lead and watch her struggle to get anything but pokes in.

Yep, i've been playing DJ for a few weeks now because I wanted to get better at wavedashes, and I get more cheap crushing victories with him as I do with fucking asuka. And to top it off he can also just play legit and get super good tools to top it off.

Orbital is a safe, evasive mid launcher. It's an incredible tool. Not to mention Lars' has ridiculous range.

And notice something about most top tier characters (Dragunov, DJ, Bryan, Jack, etc..). They don't have hopkicks. Claudio has a high-and-low-crushing, super evasive and quick hopkick, and Katarina has one that hits from damn near half-screen, yet both characters are low-tier. Watch their best players, they hardly ever throw out hopkicks.

Hopkicks are super overrated.

Drag definitely has a hopkick, it just doesn't fully launch
Also those characters have other strengths that make them ridiculous. Jack for example can launch you from half screen with df2, he doesn't need a hopkick. You also are implying that the other top tier characters don't make use of their hopkicks like Leo, Ling, Paul, and Shaheen. Even Feng, who has the shittiest hopkick in the game, still makes good use of it.

It's client side only. It only appears left/right for you. This is possible because it's a 3D game.
