The story will end with Max and Chloe realizing everything is going to revert to the VERY FIRST time in the bathroom (i.e. at the start of the GAME), and their memories will be erased and everything from the start of the GAME to the end of the FIC (which will be exactly ONE YEAR after the original shooting) will constantly be in cycle. The universe will forever be stuck in a one year loop, with even Max and Chloe forgetting what happens.
They will never leave Arcadia Bay, but will live in a relationship like in the story so far, happily unaware that they will never have a real future, as time resets itself every October 7th back to the beginning of the in-game events
