Kintoki is a one pump chump, and we get better glass cannons later on (Jeanne Alter, Mama). Herc (and Cuzilla) are berserkers with insane survivability.

Once they introduce break bars there's a cap on effective max damage. When the enemy has 5 break bars of 100k each, it doesn'[t matter if you're dealing 101k or 1 million damage damage. Kintoki will be able to one shot a break bar, but then he'll die the next turn. Herc will also be able to one shot a break bar, but he'll survive the next turn to be able to one-shot the next break bar. And he'll be alive to one shot the next break bar on the third turn.
