Melee characters use up twice as many healing resources in a non-vats build. You're gonna want str + endurance and all the damage resist perks.

FO3 is as good of an RPG as NV is, this bullshit meme that you need an "empty backstory" to have any RPG potential needs to end. Only thing NV has on FO3 is more quests, better character writing, and more skillcheck obstacles/solutions.
I think FO4's world design and exploration is somewhat underrated, but it does suffer from the problem of hostile groups being a stone's throw away from every other event location. Although sometimes I'd prefer that to the Mojave's MMO design where you have to travel through empty tons of empty gamespace to get to your designated grinding zone full of asuddenly high concentrate of hostile targets.
Yeah obviously "Sole Survivor (of Vault 111)" is a meta-tag for Nate/Nora to differentiate them in the context of the entire series. People of the commonwealth in 2280s wouldn't know or care what or whom the Vault Dweller from 2160s California was so they don't have to differentiate that sort of context.
