Think of Lesion as a spider and his spikes as his web. Since he can see his spike locations from anywhere, he has perfect map awareness.

If you place spikes in ways they can't be avoided you'll always know for sure which ways they are or aren't coming from. You can use this to your advantage in a few ways.

>Objective lockdown
>Place spikes slightly inside every possible entrance to objective
>Listen for activity and be ready to strafe towards enemy
>Wait for spikes to go off, prefire, obtain kills and replace spikes

>Flank Lockdown and/or Roaming
>Pick the most likely used flank and spike it up, hiding adjacent
>Wait for spikes to go off and for enemy to retreat
>Run out or impact through wall to blast them in the back as they remove spikes before rotating and repeating

You can also use your spikes to bully the fuck out of montagne, Another fun fact, spikes+kapkan trap kills any 3speed instantly, but you have to put your spikes on the other side of the door or his trap will blow it up. Smash the very top plank of barricade, throw your spikes at the top of the doorframe, and they will fall perfectly in front of the door so they're less likely to set them off just meleeing it.
