This really annoys me. Some guy in my last competitive game was telling the team how he had been watching youtube videos about how to hit pipes and junk.
It just seems like the worst way to learn. I find if I am actively thinking about hitting pipes then I miss 90% of the time. After a while it becomes second nature, but as far as this dude was talking he had just been watching videos and decided that was all the practice he needed.
He was bad.

Completely dead, there are 10-20 active servers that aren't trade, dodgeball, jailbreak, deathrun, or some shit like 24/7 2fort with instant respawn and RTD. Basically Valve revamped matchmaking to only bring players to official servers, so any new players just use that to queue and don't even look at community servers, and the same update hemorrhaged old players due to the new matchmaking being 100% unuseable at launch (and still being pretty shit because you can ONLY join official servers where matchmaking lets you in, so if you want to play a less-popular map or mode you might have to wait anywhere from 3 minutes to 30 even if there are people in unfilled servers for the map/mode right now)
I've been playing a lot on potatomvm's server lately, they do pretty much exclusively custom maps and missions for the Mann versus Machine, and they've been populated almost 24/7 this week because of a mission-making competition they have right now and everyone trying to get their mission playtested before the deadline. It's been a wild ride with how fucking insane some of these untested and unbalanced missions can get, but there are some real good ones among them and I've played on some damn good custom maps that I'm shocked haven't been added to the game. If only Valve gave the slightest shit about MvM things might be different.

If that's the case, why not make a /tf2g/ server? We're a community, are we not?
