The oil cost is offset by the fact you're getting 210 points per run. This allows you to buy out the entire shop if you grind for a day or two, including the 5000 oil in the shop which should easily make up for the increased oil usage. And if you have sufficiently levelled botes you can easily run it at a relatively low cost.

Last I played I had to use around 400 oil. I don't have any good AA guns, so I have to use more botes than needed.
Already got most of the things I want from the shop. Good point on the oil exchange though, I'll take that into consideration. Does D4 really have better droprates?

Paired. If you're going to use a solo carrier you're better off with someone like Sara, Lex, or the E.

I don't think there's any official confirmation, it probably does. 400 oil per run is really high but might still be worth it. I use 215 per run

They still do well solo due to the early first airstrike. They can squeeze in 2 airstrikes within 40s.
Just that when paired, they outclass 90% of the other CVs easily.

"Want" and "should get" are two different things. As the no BP user I strongly advise you to get all BPs in the shop. The furniture and equipment is a given, as is Tirpitz. That leaves some gold boxes, some food and 5000 oil and there's really no reason to ignore 'free' gold boxes nor the oil. If you're grinding you might as well make the most of it and take advantage of the higher point gain in D4.

Someone advised using Unicorn+Helena for clearing fleet in dog mines.
My Unicorn (lv100, ringed) is getting too much damage so I have to use boss fleet for mobs too. What I'm doing wrong here?

Your Helena is not strong enough to protect Unicorn.
Try adding someone to help her

Helena is lv100+ringed too, with good equips.
If I add 3rd ship there, it becomes more costly than boss-clearing Hood+Cleaveland.
I'm running with LB2 Vestral added, but that's 27 cost, which feels like too much for this map.

Helena needs to be able to deal with suicide boats, make sure you're using 150mm and not 155mm as it sucks for suicide ships

If she's stuffed with toolboxes and still getting rammed before the boss appears then I'd suggest adding in another bote to your backline to help share out damage. Akashi or Vestal would be the most logical given their low costs and additional healing. Alternatively throw a DD into the mix (Jabberin, Ayanami) to help assist killing things and clearing the air, same result really.

I don't recall having too many issues with my Unicorn/Cleveland combo for trash clearing though, I'd maybe have to use my boss fleet once now and again because my Unicorn was utterly fucked but that was an extreme rarity.

try adding bote that can still gain exp, eventhough it will increase the fuel consumption those fuel will be converted to exp and affection
