I dunno if it was supposed to be like that, but during the beta using a physical keyboard the character limit was like 2/3rds of that when using the software keyboard. I even tried writing the same sentence using both methods but on physical keyboard it would just suddenly cut off.
It was annoying as hell.

3U is the last one I payed since I never got a 3DS but have a Wii U, I just saw some deal on a used 3DS that would come with Generations and thought maybe it'd be nice playing a new MH game until I wait for the World PC port if that takes a long while to come by.

Fair enough, I feel like FU difficulty is wanked to bits when it honestly wasn't that bad. The monsters had like 3 moves back then and things were simpler. Plessy hitbox is also blown out, you could roll through that thing fairly easy.

Definitely my fave series. I gave wrong date there, but it was in 07 when I got F2 I loved it so much I got MHF and put some hours into that. Not too much after I'd gotten into P2ndG so I only ever got to like 4* village in MHF.

I think a lot of the hitbox meme being blown up comes from things like tails actually hitting you more often than in newer games. Think about Rathalos' tail hitting you with the slightest movement in second gen but only shoving you around later. In newer games only feet seem to do it.
Of course there are still plenty of broken hitboxes like Plesi's hipckeck.

Agree. Local MH on PSP was one of the comfiest thing of my life.
I played all Freedom 2, Freedom Unite and Portable 3rd with my cousin (he's just one year older than me). Great memories.

Pretty sad he bought a 3DS just a couple weeks before mine broke. I didn't replace it, so we never played 4U and Generations together.

RIP, if there was online back then and not through that xlinkkai (never got it set up) then it would've added a bit to the games, but in saying that, it was still a blast offline.

Yea me and my buds did fix that xlinkkai. We had a blast. But my best MH memories are still local play with my buddy on psp when we played Portable 3rd.

Yeah,I guess so. I remember going from P3rd/FU -> 4U, my god I found out rathalos became so much worse with flying spam and poison talons of death. A true nightmare. Tigrex's and the other monsters additional movers were neat and spiced it up for me.

Yeah, he never got a 3ds so I couldn't play with him. He's got a PS4 though, so I really need to hit him up to play world. Hopefully you can play world with your cousin, user.
