/indie/ - Indie and Misc. Games General

Previous: >What the fuck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as A Hat in Time, Hollow Knight, RUINER, Cuphead, Heat Signature, Steamworld Dig 2, LISA, Yume Nikki, OFF, Middens, Underrail, OneShot, Rimworld, Age of Decadence, VA-11 HALL-A, Subnautica, Machinarium, DashBored, Darkwood, Card City Nights 2, Braid, Monolith, Rain World, Axiom Verge, Guacamelee, The Desolate Hope, West Of Loathing, Stardew Valley, etc. as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Rayman, Pillars Of Eternity, Rise Of Nations, and Valkyria Chronicles. Absorbed the /lite/ general some time ago and /jrpg/ is welcome.
A Hat In Time has its own general for the time being.

Mobile or consoles, flash or unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads (since they have no other home in Veeky Forums), however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

>How can I contribute?
All we need right now is people to talk about their loved indie and miscellaneous games, so don't be afraid to post, bump and reply your fellow anons. Also we're looking for anons to make new pastebins/wikis/images and update the ones already made. And please give lots of feel, love, kind and nice to everyone, except namefags. And be sure to make a new thread if nobody else does.

First for Faceless Doctor is best girl.

>tfw always think I'm a slick stealthy super agent like james bond but really everyone just thinks of you as a dummy and uses you
Really even fucking the protectorate quest line they treat you as an incompetent
>yeah one of our soldiers is reporting ghosts or something lmao go check it out by the lab
>yeah we sent out this expedition like a month ago we were just going to let die out there but go check them out since we don't have anything else for you
>get set up with the most dangerous part of gassing the drones, almost die in the process

user, I don't think that is a girl. Just thought you might like to know.

>faceless doctor is not a girl

Next you're gonna tell me Niko is not a (good) boy

Worst thing is everyone does it.
>you know that guy's keycard I asked you to get? get me a rock from his house. also there's robots and mines have fun
>man I got blackout drunk and saw a warehouse go check it out there could be something cool
>a bunch of idiots got caught right in the middle of insane cannibal murderer headquarters, bring them back here alive
>go bail out the newbie who fucked up an easy job part 1 and 2
>fetch me a one-of-a-kind circuit board from an acidic hellhole filled with mutants. send a squad? ask that merchant to get one? nah m8
>go kill that fuckhuge tentacled abomination all by yourself, do not ask why puny human
>oh yeah there's a bunch of trigger-happy cyborgs occupying the IT guy's store, the easy way in is a burrower nest, go save him will you

And you still do it. How does that make you feel?

Well I mean at the end of the day you get rich and a nice cozy mansion
all that's missing is a waifu and Six can go fuck himself, I ain't going north
I'm the invictus and I've got a comfy life here

once you join them you realize they're actually the good ones; I did protectorate first
there's good and bad in both, but so far I think free drones are definitely more good (it's just you have to get past the antifa retard at the train mission to join them, which is hard for any sane person)

you get a good merchant, you are NOT wanted, and you get harder quests (arguable, but I think so)

whether you buy the propaganda about nazis or not, protectorate is neither; they're not as good as the nazis actually were, and they're not as bad as normies think nazis are

remember the CAU formed after protectorate forces got hit with those kinds of weapons, IIRC

I think we're just a capable person who had the specific traits Tanner was looking for in his tool, who he mind controls into doing the SGS quests

that nobody knows you and you know nobody isn't surprising; we don't see the entire south of course

probably ant-I mean ezra

east underrail expansion when
i want katanas

that's what expedition is, ya dingus

>they're not as good as the nazis actually were

Who

east underail is the aquatic area expedition will take place in

also I am surprised the game doesnt have a katana already, as a unique melee weapon
I kept expecting one

Not dead

Ezra is a psionic, a chemist, and competent in technology? How did he learn all this stuff?

Who accepts USD outside of fort apogee?

I wonder who's behind this post.

Greenpath has the comfiest game OST ever, it makes me feel like I'm in Princess Mononoke.

a jew who thinks nazis are good?

I prefer the City of Tears theme, the raindrops in the background really complete it.

Someone remind me, but can you do anything to Ezra psi wise? As far as I remember, even if you only come to him in end-game with a min-maxed psi build he just sends you packing when you try overpowering him.

Links for Glum Buster & Feign are dead on the imgur recc page.

Currently enjoying Heat Signature, though it can get boring fast, so I'm playing in bursts so as not to burn out on it. Enjoyed Duskers when it came out, & N when it was still new.

Any reccs for someone who likes free-motion, badassery but most importantly, unique gameplay?

...

Shounldn't be too hard when you lived for hundreds of years.

There he is.

Story-wise no, he's still a massively powerful psyker. In gameplay you can stomp him without much problem if you want to.

I meant that if you walk up to him with 15 WIL and maxed out psi he still sends you to the azuridae shadow realm as his introduction to thought control.

No.

You can resist him with 10 or more WIL. He will just say "your breddy good" instead of sending you to fight the bug.

I have no idea.
>inb4 it's three goliathi instead of a weak azuridae

At least he has the decency not to get his knickers in a bunch, unlike some other asshole when you don't let him mess with your brain.

The one with a claw or a gun on his head?

>Ezra is a psionic
Not just a simple psyker, he is a Thought Control sniper hybrid. My favorite build, my greatest role model.

>sniper

Nice video Recluse.

Attack him and let him attack you back.

If for some unfathomable reason you try to kill anyone in the floor he'll either snipe or mindrape you.

Thanks.

On the off-chance you aren't pulling my legs, please tell me he at least has the decency not to shit out ridiculous damage.

Bring a shield and a reinforced vest. It is a 12.7mm shot coming from a skilled marksman, after all.

>ezra knows psychic powers, botany, chemistry, mutagens, psiphorms, unspecified technological capacities- including cybernetics skills he trusts enough to self-experiment on his eyes-, and sniping
Is there anything the man cannot do?

Can't find high quality components to sell. He needs to work on his mercantile.

Lie.

He lies to your face.

Not broadcast the fact that he can do all of that.

He's not very convincing though.

You fool. That's just what he wants you to think.

>implying you need mercantile when you can just mind control the guy into giving you stuff
Actually, why can't you jedi trick merchants into giving you preferential treatment with thought control? Too busted?

Psi is already massively OP and gets the most complete lore, don't give them all the benefits of persuasian/intimidation/mercantile with thought control too.

If psi wasn't so rote-like you could snap the game on half. An endgame psyker could torch everyone in the room or brainwipe anyone if it weren't for the mechanics.

Or at the very least burn spiderwebs. Seriously, how come they are indestructible? Are they made from nanocrystalline diamond fibers or something?

They're spun from the crystallized tears of those who quit at Depot A.

Does he really? You know he knows electronics since it's his job at SGS. He also isn't hiding his psionics since the rumor had to start somewhere, and he does not deny it if you ask him for tutoring. No-one in a place like the Underrail is going to be surprised he knows his way around a weapon.

For everything else, you can only infer these things, and he never tells you how come he knows the answers. He's willing to help you, but that's it, and he deflects any accusation you bring to him. You have nothing on him besides the obvious.

>He also isn't hiding his psionics since the rumor had to start somewhere
It's a bit more than just a rumor, Quinton calls Ezra the top psi expert of SGS. They likely just aren't sure if he is a psyker and if he is what can he do.

He doesn't just look like a psionic electronics expert who can use a rifle, it's obvious there's something more about him. The average southgater would notice something odd about the eerie guy with two gaping holes in his head, an empty eyesocket and a face that is more circuits than anything else.

They notice it, they just don't talk about it. If you talk to Big Bret at the end he starts ranting that SGS is full of fucking freaks, including you, and everyone just pretends things are normal.

>the electronics guy just keeps staring at the wall when I talk to him
>our security chief is an ex-gangster and a dick to boot
>it's been weeks since the thermostat broke and the last guy who tried to fix it got murdered
>quinton just torched the burrower and took a bite out of it
>arlene refuses to sell me food
>I asked vera for a form and she wouldn't stop talking about the protectorate
>newton is so useless he managed to get caught by psi beetles while catching hoppers
>the new guy only comes here to sell loot from corpses and maybe talk to ezra or tanner
>he doesn't even sleep
>and now it turns out my boss is some kind of evil alien
>fuck this, I'm going to camp hathor

And now their previously normal merchant comes back from Deep Caverns as a cyborg with Faceless tech sticking out of her melted throat, accompanied by a smallish army of Faceless. At some point you just snap.

City of tears ambience is tenoudaten but the rain does terrible and cruel things to my framerate and the casters in the soul workshop can suck a shit.

And those Faceless didn't even offer you a ride, even though they stopped by SGS. Dicks.

might as well call the game "Everyone hates Jack!"

The Faceless don't "hate", they are above such petty human emotions. I think Six instant messaged them that you were destined to take the elevator. They originally intended to take you home, that's why your parting was so awkward, full of uncomfortable silence.

If someone is interested, here's my mutagen puzzle from this playthrough.

Solution I came up with was:
IO 3
HELICON 2
OVID 2
SOLIS 2
ECHO 1
SOLIS 2

I'm interested if someone can come up with a shorter solution, I have a feeling it could be done in fewer steps.

nothing even happens on the elevator
80 some hours of gameplay leading up to Six saying
>yeah can't really tell you lol

>tenoudaten

It took me a minute to figure out what the heck this meant. Also, how do you get framerate drops in hollow knight? I don't recall getting any significant drops while playing it, though it has been awhile since I last played.

What is this thing?

Beautiful.

By running off an onboard card.

o-oh. I'm sorry, user

A total badass

Monolith is pretty slick. Definitely feels less luck-based than most roguelites I've played.

>roguelite
it permadeth
it like rogue
it lite rogue
me like hard game

You're gonna be rogue-like in a minute bub

Still can't use either term without triggering somebody, I see. That's a shame.

Now that the vast majority of the mods I use are finally updated, I'm gonna start a new Rimworld save.

Lone Survivor, Tribal (with 3), or Crash Landed?
Also are the new swamp biomes interesting or just a pain?

you can use roguelike correctly if you want
but there's no reason to here as there's a roguelike general

lone survivor in winter biome is comfy if you've never done it before

Kill me, I thought only Rangers would bug up and not shoot sometimes on Towers.

Is there anywhere I can reliably get non-acid chemgun parts before Institute?

Fixer is usually best. Mechanic in Rail Crossing usually has incendiary collectors too if I remember correctly.

Guess I'll just wait for the restock then. Thanks user.

Protectorate warehouse without a good emitter or stealth is hell.

>tfw just skipped it this time
Fuck Gorsky.

can't you just kill the fuckers?

thats why he said good emitter

so he did

I wonder if it's possible get all passages.

This is Zeta, he's a cute king from a run n gun game I'm making assets for.

Say something nice about him.

>tfw

;_;

Just finished Underrail on DOMINATING. I liked it, but expected it to be a bit more ridiculous. Not that I'm complaining, it was ridiculous enough.

I think I will stick to Hard when Expedition comes out though, don't think DOMINATING would be the right way to experience it for the first time.

the heck is he, a hedgehog?
or some kind of cat with a weird helmet

A strong, beautiful, independent womyn who don't need no man.

He's an alien.

does it have a benin

probably, i dunno

An ice cold killer

(Unless you don't play it that way)

Working on my 2nd Binding of Isaac save right now and I'm trying to unlock The Lost. Should I just mod it or am I doomed to spend 100+ runs trying to get the perfect storm of items and room placements to get the unlock?

What items/charms should I buy in Hollow Knight? I just got the wall jump. Kinda lost, where should I go next?
