I'm not Vampire Natsuki guy I just had this idea a while ago and wanted to take a swing at it. Also I keep writing Sayori fics so this is good for the pile I do think it's cool that each doki is getting a vampire fic though. Wonder how long it'll take for Monika to get one.

As you all know, this today we're discussing "All Quiet on Western Front". An interesting book that gives an outlook of the first World War from a german soldier's point of view. Here are some questions about it.

>What did you think of the book?
>What character did you enjoy the most?
>Which character did you hate/dislike?
>Were you as knowledgeable of WW1 as you are of WW2?
>How would you do if you were drafted and sent into a world war?
>What do you think your days as a war soldier would be like? Would you last long enough to see the war end?
>Do you think the germans were on the wrong here? If they haven't lost WW1, do you think nazism would've never existed?

As of what's going to be of the next book, here's the thing: There's no next book! But don't panic, that doesn't mean this ride is over. For next week, the task is the one to explore another literature genre: poetry. What's that suppose to mean? You're to read this week poetry, lots of it and bring back for the next saturday a poem you enjoyed and why. Also a great exercise for people who're writing poetry!

I'm not that knowledgeable in poetry as in other areas, but here are some authors I've read:

I've been adoring the Dokis, Whiskey and Gunpowder story that Revolver Carl user has been working on. If you haven't read it you can find the 6 chapters out so far in the pastebin. He's done a fantastic job of blending the west with the individual dokis while not losing their original personalities. It's a legitimately engaging story, and really picks up by the 5th and 6th parts with the Indian tribe (spoilers)
I'd be really interested in seeing where medieval dokis would go, especially if it were written by you!

I loved it, especially for the historical value that it presented. The first world war was unlike any other before it, and to delve so deeply into the horror of it like no other work of the time and through the perspective of the Germans no less was bold for the period and worked out tremendously I felt.

Funny thing, in Australia, WW1 overshadows WW2 in terms of national significance (large number of historical reasons for this which I wont get into now) and the war is taught broadly. Add on to this history being my favourite subject in school and I already knew a fair bit of the stuff going in, dates, equipment, ideology, propaganda, statistics and developments annually etc. But exploring the horror of exploring the conflict through a soldier's eyes is something no battle report can ever hope to encapsulate.

Depends, if it was way back then I'd try and get myself into officer's training and use my knowledge of the future to stop tragedies like the Somme, Flanders etc. But if it were nowadays I suppose I'd just join a tank corps (i'm a tankfag).

I'd fucking hope so, I'd have no shortage of stories to tell or write about.

Definitely not, Nazism was a reactionary movement started in response to the cultural degeneration during the weimar years. They didn't just pop out of the darkness of man's inner demons. Pic very related.

Pretty solid book, I actually read it back in middle school for an English class.

I either liked Paul or Kat the most, I don't know.

None of them seemed that bad, so I'll just go with Himmelfloss.

Eh, it didn't feel like you needed to know that much about WW1 to enjoy the book, although there was some locational stuff and Kaiser talk.

I would be fucked if I were drafted. Just gonna keep it simple and say that.

I would not last to see the war end, and I'd be surprised if I lasted a year unless I became really motivated and/or fit during boot.

As a question to other readers, could you see yourself being a Himmelfloss sort of person in the army?

Also, this book is definitely a good example of a good yet obvious quote from a certain orange mercenary: "That's war, not everyone makes it back."

Yeah, I've seen a few chapters posted while they're new and fresh. I'd have to start from the beginning to get a true understanding of the piece though. People say the character development in this one is particularly good.

Thanks for the encouragement. I've been putting it off cuz I don't know whether it feels too gimmicky to me or not plus there are other poems and stories I have lined up, albeit more conventional ones, but knowing someone is looking forward to it might give me the boost I needed to press pen to paper.
