It's too blue imo, you should desaturate the blues in it pretty heavily (assuming you aren't restricted by your game's palette)

I started developing a Victoria 2 clone, that should be better than vicky. I implemented some basics, like pop growth, army movement and other core stuff. Then I thought what features I should add. I dreamed about all kind of cool features that will extend gameplay and add some depth to the game. Then I played Victoria 2 again. And analyzed, what parts of the game I really play. I tried to analyze what makes the game fun. What I discovered? I discovered that I mostly play minmaxing Bob Ross simulator. Historical events, pop dynamics, factories — all this stuff improved my experience, but was not really important for getting my fun. And even minmaxing part is not that important, if I lost an army or got deficit that wouldn't upset me — remember, there are no mistakes, just happy little accidents.
So, now I simply don't know what I should do. I already have a very crappy Bob Ross simulator, but what should be added to it? Economy, religion, production chains — why? Historical events, persons — why? The only relevant part I can think of is the hand-shaping of borders. It will definitely make Bob Ross simulator better. But it is hard to implement. And I can't say that it is really important, since drawing with a wide brush feels good enough.
/agdg/, how do you decide what features will make your game more fun?
William Richardson
what about the actual pixels I've placed. Like the whites for like... glare effect or what not

those seem fine to me

Natural language is terrible for programming. Natural languages are designed for communication between people with brains that are very good at understanding context and filling in the blanks.
In contrast, programming languages have to be very specific and mechanical.
>In contrast, programming languages have to be very specific and mechanical. It is possible to make a language with everything-is-implicitly-passed semantics. It would be hell to debug, users of this language will have to become true wizards, but it is doable.

I'm not sure what you mean. Like when you're in a fight with multiple enemies and you're selecting which once to attack? In that case I'd say highlight the enemy sprite/model when the player is hovering over a name, to make it clear which one is being attacked.
Camden Robinson
It's not programming if you're not telling it exactly what to do. Giving an AI high level instructions on what a game should be like will result in, essentially, a game that someone else made. You don't think AI is going to be included in intellectual property laws? Write a damn book if you want someone else to expend the effort it takes to realize your vision.

If he's talking about programming why would the name of the enemies have any factor on how they're managed by the code?
William Long
You just keep on tweaking the game by giving it more commands, like your own personal instantaneous devslave.

>This section in the level isn't fun, change this and that >Not enough memes here Your instructions aren't even comprehensible to human beings, let alone computers. How the fuck is a computer supposed to know what you think is fun? How is it supposed to know what a meme is?
Aiden Butler
Sure why not? It would work just like any other tool you download. Adobe for example is investing hard in deep learning, they want users to manipulate "things" in Photoshop rather than "pixels", it's basically what I'm suggesting but for images.
Camden James
user there's a huge difference between a relatively simple tool you use and an intelligent entity (which is in no way, shape or form going to be able to exist as an independent copy on your computer) assisting you.
Robert Jenkins
the botnet already crawled through my memes folders, it will know what I mean
Dominic Smith
My man, here's what you do. Make the game where you pilot a rideback-like mech. In bike mode you go super fast. In mech mode you can do all sorts of tricks.
Cameron Peterson
that's pretty ageist of you user
Dominic Thomas
If an AI like that existed then human input would be worthless anyway. At that point, literally anyone could order their computer to build any game they personally wanted to play. Games would lose all value.
Ian Johnson
I'm not the user you quoted but there's a part of me that wants to do a thing like this and make an IGPX type game, but I already have 1.5 projects being worked on right now.
Mason Garcia
you'd probably be better off with a magic wand you can wave to make your game appear out of thin air
James Collins
Oh shit, thanks dude. This is a great idea. I'll definitely keep this in mind. I'm hoping to integrate some sort of wall-run mechanic at some point so this will definitely work. The game's art-style will be somewhat stylized as I feel I'll be able to justify the character's insane movement capabilities a lot better than going for something more realistic.
Camden Rivera
Does the guy run automatically, or something? Or where's the challenge?
At the very least you'd have to go really cartoony with the physics and the world, because I can't see a "realistic" game like that working out.
Jeremiah Young

Nah you'll have full control over the player character. I do hope to include large levels, on-foot races with the computer and collectables that make great use of the movement system. >At the very least you'd have to go really cartoony with the physics and the world That's the plan
