Nep Faulkes and Ardnaid Spingflower are community mods which are receptive to newer players and nice. They both go on trips around the world and find neat things.

Jojo (neurocognitive), Lee (leetheknight), Rolltier, Sky (skymallexperience), and Vistu (mojiro) are "normal" mods and are the ones that will ban people. They're also all nice but are more inclined to bump you around if you're being shitty. Sky is great to know if you want to take pictures.

Chainsword Audion, Genki (rivarman), and Rahfnek (lupin.sinister) are owners of the /slg/ group and don't invite people usually? Chainsword is a funny guy if you're new to the game though. Genki is mysteriously quiet and serves as some sort of intel collector for Sovot.

Sovot is also an owner but he handles disputes that you have with the other mods if they're being unfair. He shows up when someone is wearing a dick, bans them, then disappears into the wind.
