Then a red-wolf with nerdy glasses appeared and help the blue hedgehog defeat the weak jackal. The wolf also became the hedgehog's new best friend as the worthless fox boy cries in the corner with jealously and thinking of a way to get rid of his competition.

People don't have a problem with multiple characters, it's just that their playstyles are either too different to be fully fleshed-out (SA1, 06) or are either exact clones of another character (Heroes, SA2 to a lesser extent). We're also unhappy that most plots reduce them to cheerleader status.

Some people want a return to the adventure formula, others think that Sega isn't isn't using boost properly, as seen in the level design of Forces. Pretty much everyone is unhappy that SEGA is trying out new styles rather than refining boost or going back to adventure.

I already redesigned this OC to make it look more like a Sonic character and less like a Forces Avatar, but I felt it was half-assed and rather shitty. This design simplified the head and greatly altered the clothing design and color. Do you feel this is a visual improvement and closer to the design of actual Sonic characters? Any feedback/changes?

Well, I said my opinion before, but comparing redesign and redesign 2.0, newer "simplified but still messy hairs" looks nice. Clothes are nice too, even if simple stock Forces's ones looks more fitting because fluffy and pastel colored. Ears could be bigger and wider because why not?
