And after some quick googling it seems that it's a common bug in the Vita version. Thank God I didn't lose more than 5 minutes with this since I had to go back and revive a party member at the base.

It doesn't really stain as the Vita has a plastic coating/layer on top. However dirt accumulates around the borders and creases so those part will appear yellowish if you don't know how to clear them off.

Any Vita has these things over time if uncleaned, though it's less obvious on dark colored ones.
